Grace picked up on the sarcasm in his voice and didn’t bother to say more.
You can never wake a person pretending to be asleep, and Anthony’s desire to show off was just too strong.
Grace thought his behavior was like those wannabe friends of celebrities.
Probably because he felt his friend could be a star, he thought he wasn’t far behind and worked hard to show off, with his desire to be a star almost impossible to hide.
She was worried Anthony might mess up this deal, so she’d tried to remind him seve
If their fates weren’t tied together, she wouldn’t care about Anthony’s survival at all.
She took out her phone and sent a message, moving a few steps away from Anthony.
Anthony snorted, highly dismissive of Grace’s fake sincerity.
He pulled out his phone too and moved to the other side, complaining to the girl he just started flirting with
about his bad mood.
The girl was quite taken with Anthony, and hearing he was upset, quickly comforted him with kisses and
hugs.
Only then did Anthony smile.
He glanced towards the police department, then found a shady spot to sit, completely forgetting about Autumn going in, just lost in his sweet romance.
Autumn had no clue about what was happening outside. She and Ella found the female officer who had
called her.
The officer breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Autumn.
“Thank you for coming, Mars Wright’s mental state is really concerning. We’ve brought in several experts, but none can get him to speak. It seems like he’s deliberately letting himself go crazy, and nothing we do works.”
Autumn’s eyes flashed with mockery.
Mars Wright was never one to hold on.
The only reason he’s held on this long is probably because of what he said to the female cop to lure her here.
His goal was still to rely on Autumn to get him out.
Autumn really didn’t know whether to call Mars Wright naive or just a hopeless mess.
How stupid could he be to think Autumn could challenge the justice system?

It’s not like she had the ability, and even if she did, why on earth would she risk it all for Mars Wright?
He’s completely unworthy of such efforts!
“I can only see him once, whether he’ll turn himself in, I can’t guarantee.”
The female officer nodded: “We understand, thank you for cooperating, Ms. Bennett.”
“No matter the outcome, we’re grateful you came.”
The officer soon led Autumn to the visitor room.
Through the thick glass, Autumn saw Mars Wright.
After being detained, it was clear he wasn’t doing well.
His eyes were bloodshot.
He looked haggard and skinny.
Like a dried–out husk.
Autumn’s gaze was complicated.
It wasn’t pity, just the realization of how things had changed.
Once upon a time, Mars Wright was so full of life.
But now he was more down–and–out than a homeless person.
Would Mars Wright regret his choices if he’d known this would be his ending?
“Autumn…”
Seeing Autumn’s radiant face, Mars Wright’s expression was filled with nostalgia and unwillingness.
More than anything, regret.
Once he had a happy, harmonious family, his wife willingly tried IVF, and his company was flourishing.
He was just a step away from the pinnacle of his life, so what made him betray Autumn Lopez to be with Lydia Lopez?
If Lydia truly liked him, why didn’t she accept him when he pursued her relentlessly in college?
Why wait until he was successful and returned?
And his parents.
Would parents who truly loved their daughter really help their son–in–law cheat with their younger daughter? Clearly, the Lopez family was such a twisted one, and Autumn was the only normal person there, so why

couldn’t he see it back then?
“Why did you call me here?”
Autumn got straight to the point.
She really didn’t want to see Mars Wright, not even for a second.
Mars Wright naturally noticed the disgust in her eyes.
His heart trembled, and he lowered his head in shame.
“I, I just wanted to see how you’re doing.”
Autumn scoffed: “Well, you’ve seen it now. I’m doing great, even better than you can imagine.”
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving.”
With that, Autumn made to leave.
Mars Wright cried out: “Autumn, don’t go!”
Autumn didn’t stop.
Mars Wright was desperate, shouting: “Didn’t you come here to ask me anything? Aren’t you curious whether what the officer told you is true?”
Autumn finally stopped.
She turned to look at him, her face calm and unruffled: “Of course, I want to know.”
“But your attitude clearly shows you have no intention of telling.”
“Mars Wright, you don’t think I’m stupid, do you?”
“I know you want to exchange these facts for benefits, but do you really think I’d fall for it?”
Mars Wright felt embarrassed seeing how Autumn had figured him out.
“So you’ve guessed it, right?”
His voice shook.
“I… I have no other choice but this…”
“Autumn, help me, please?”
Mars Wright looked at Autumn with despair: “I really have no choice, no one else would come to see me except you.”
“I really don’t want to stay here anymore, I…”
