THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 1027

The group watching the footage was starting to get anxious.

Just then, a hand appeared on the screen, reaching through the bed curtain. A moment later, a figure climbed onto the bed, and her face came into full view of the camera.

It was Charis.

"Holy crap! It really was Charis!" Elsa gasped.

Seeing Charis on the bed, the policewoman immediately switched the playback speed back to normal.

Elsa's exclamation made Charis's face drain of color.

Could it be? Did Caitlin really have a camera? No, impossible! It had to be a trick!

But the video on the screen continued to play. Charis, holding a necklace, furtively tucked it under Caitlin's bedsheets before quickly scrambling off the bed.

The officer paused the video and walked over to Charis, holding out the phone. "Do you have anything else to say?"

Charis stared at the frozen image on the screen, her eyes wide with disbelief.

"How… how could this be? There was really a camera!"

In that moment, Charis felt her world come crashing down. Her face was a deathly white. It was over. This was really the end. With the Gonzales family's resources and this evidence, she was going to suffer a miserable fate.

"Miss Gonzales, please give me a chance! I'm so sorry!"

Right now, if Caitlin would just forgive her and give her a second chance, she would do anything.

Charis knew a little about the law. In cases like this, if the victim was willing to forgive her and provide a letter of clemency, she could avoid prison time.

"Get up," Caitlin said, her voice devoid of emotion as she looked down at Charis.

Get up? Charis's eyes brightened, and she scrambled to her feet. Did that mean Caitlin was going to forgive her? She couldn't believe it. Caitlin was forgiving her this easily. As expected, an idiot was an idiot.

"I will not be providing you with a letter of forgiveness," Caitlin stated, her gaze unwavering. "Are you sorry? Or are you just scared? You're scared of going to prison, scared of facing the consequences of your actions. That's why you're groveling here. I will see this through to the very end."
