THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 1059

How a person acts when drunk reflects their true character. If Gordon became violent, he was definitely not the right man for their niece.

Hedwig shook her head. "No, nothing like that. It actually makes me laugh just thinking about it. Norris told me that after he got drunk, he treated the dinner table like a concert stage and sang several children's songs! Oh, and Norris even recorded a video. Let me find it for you."

Walking behind them, Caitlin felt a little embarrassed. She had thought she was the only one who had recorded it, but it turned out Norris had too.

When the sisters-in-law saw the video, they all burst out laughing.

Elaine Prescott laughed so hard that tears streamed down her face. "I didn't expect him to be so amusing!"

"..."

The group chatted and laughed all the way to their cars.

That afternoon, not long after Hannah and the uncles and aunts arrived, the thirteen Richards cousins also showed up.

Fortunately, the Gonzales Manor was vast. Otherwise, housing nearly thirty people would have been a challenge.

That evening, Stuart arranged for a bonfire party on the estate grounds. The two families gathered for a barbecue, chatting and enjoying each other's company in a warm, lively atmosphere.

Before they knew it, Saturday arrived—the day Gordon was to meet the family.

Gordon wasn't the only one who was nervous; Beatrice was on edge as well. Just as Gordon was about to leave, she called out, "Gordon, wait a minute. Let me see if you're dressed appropriately."

Gordon stopped.

He was wearing a custom-tailored suit that perfectly complemented his tall, elegant frame. With just a little grooming, he exuded an air of confidence and authority.

Beatrice walked over and adjusted his collar. "I hope the next time you visit the Gonzales family, it will be to discuss the engagement. You absolutely must be on your best behavior today. I've already prepared your engagement suit, so don't you dare disappoint me."

"Don't worry, Mom. I won't."

Hannah nodded. "Go ahead."

As Caitlin's figure disappeared, Warren Richards, the eldest uncle, inexplicably felt a surge of nervousness. He turned to his wife, Jade. "Jade, do I look okay today?"

"You look fine, dear," Jade said with a smile. "But when Gordon comes in, you can't keep that stern face on. You don't want to scare him away."

Warren huffed. "If he gets scared that easily, then what right does he have to marry our Freya?"

No matter the era, women were often the more vulnerable party in a marriage. The reason he and his brothers had traveled from all over the world to The Capital was to put on a show of force for their niece.

After all, she was their only niece.

They needed to make it crystal clear to Gordon that they were the formidable family standing behind Caitlin.
