Something to do with Ann?
Gavin froze for a moment. "That... that can't be, right? Ann can be headstrong, but Ulysses is her own brother..."
Rowena quickly jumped in to defend Ann. "Ransom, don't say things like that. Ann would never do something like that!"
"She wouldn't?" Rowena couldn't say it, but Ransom had no such reservations. "Sis, don't be so naive. If she wasn't that kind of person, how did the Gonzales family nearly fall apart?"
Fall apart.
Those words made Gavin's heart skip a beat. It was true. The Gonzales family was a stark example.
Just then, Gavin's phone rang with a sharp, urgent tone.
"Hello?"
After listening for a moment, Gavin's voice filled with emotion. "Okay, okay! We'll be right there!"
He hung up and turned to Rowena, his face alight with relief. "Rowena, they found him! They found Ulysses!"
Rowena stared at him, her expression a mix of shock and joy. "Really? They really found him?"
"Yes! A good Samaritan found him and brought him to our community management office!"
"Let's go! Let's go back right now!"
They all rushed back to their neighborhood.
As soon as they arrived at the management office, they saw Ulysses sitting on the steps, a lollipop in his mouth, happily bouncing up and down with a huge smile on his face.
"Ulysses! Ulysses!" The couple ran to him, sweeping him into their arms and bursting into tears of relief.
Ulysses looked bewildered. "Mommy? Daddy? What's wrong? Why are you crying?"
"I'm not asking for your forgiveness. I just wanted to say sorry."
With her last words, Ann bowed deeply to Rowena.
She seemed like a different person-all her usual pride and harshness gone. The change in her made Gavin's own eyes sting with sudden heat.
After everything she'd been through, Ann had learned one thing: only the weak garnered sympathy. Gavin wasn't like that old witch from the Gonzales family. That woman had ignored her because they shared no blood, but Gavin was her biological father.
The old saying was true: a prodigal's return is more precious than gold. So, if she showed Gavin her vulnerability and repentance, he would soften.
Besides, by taking this approach, she was sure Rowena, that old bitch, would respond with sarcasm. And since she had been the one to bring Ulysses back, Rowena would surely suspect she had orchestrated the whole thing.
By pretending to be sincere, she was betting Rowena would be furious. People lose their reason when they're angry. All she had to do was wait for Rowena to lash out. An attack on her would put Rowena in opposition to Gavin, which would inevitably start a fight between them.
Even if they didn't argue immediately, it would plant a seed of discord. All she had to do was sit back and reap the rewards.

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
