Caitlin shook her head. "No, Gemma. If you're truly interested in acupuncture, Mommy will take you to the lab later to practice on specimens. Grandma is not your test subject."
Caitlin had a private lab at Sylvester Gardens, sleek and fully stocked with everything she could possibly need.
Hearing this, Beatrice quickly protested. "How can a specimen compare to a real person? Catie, don't worry so much! What's the worst that could happen? A little sting? Let Gemma try. What if our little Gemma has a natural talent, and I don't feel any pain at all?"
"Right, Gemma?"
Gemma immediately nodded, her eyes pleading with Caitlin, hoping her mother would give her a chance.
Caitlin let out a sigh and rubbed her forehead. "Fine, fine. One chance. Show me the spot I showed you earlier. Get it right, and I'll let you have one go at it."
Beatrice was exasperated. "Catie, aren't you just setting her up to fail? She's so young, how can she remember all these points?" Heck, even she, a grown adult, couldn't remember all the points Caitlin had just rattled off.
Gemma thought for a moment, then placed her finger on a specific spot on Beatrice's lower leg.
Caitlin stared, stunned. Gemma's finger was perfectly placed. It was the exact spot Caitlin had shown her before.
Was it a coincidence?
Caitlin pressed on and asked another spot.
Gemma immediately moved her finger to a new spot.
Again, it was perfect!
