Kimberly paused before adding, "Xander probably married you because of your friendship with Caitlin."
Everyone knew who Caitlin was. Anyone even remotely associated with her was destined for success. Take Elsa, for instance. If it weren't for Caitlin, she wouldn't be living the life she was now. The scandal with Elsa's family had been huge, and her parents had nearly died. It was Caitlin who had stepped in and saved them. It was obvious that Xander was after that connection. Otherwise, the status-obsessed Forresters would have never given Elsa the time of day.
The truth was harsh, but it was the truth.
Elsa laughed coldly at Kimberly. "Kimberly, do you think the world revolves around Caitlin?" Why did everyone assume Xander married her because of Caitlin? When she and Xander first met, he didn't even know she was friends with Caitlin. The person Xander loved was her. Why did everyone have to credit Caitlin for everything?
Elsa pressed on, "By that logic, did Gertrude's husband marry her because of Caitlin too?"
