But so what if Keeley's old house was bought out? In the end, the money was all going to them anyway.
Soon, Keeley put down the pen and handed the document to Manager Barrett. "All signed."
The four brothers breathed a collective sigh of relief. The two million was finally theirs.
Manager Barrett took the document. "Alright, Mr. Prescott. We'll process the transfer for you right away."
"Thank you," Keeley replied. "I appreciate it, Manager Barrett."
With this major task completed, Keeley felt a weight lift from his shoulders. He would sleep more soundly that night.
Manager Barrett smiled. "Of course. It's our job."
Millard quickly asked, "Manager Barrett, when can we expect the money to be in our accounts?"
"Because it's a large sum, it will be processed within 48 hours," the manager replied.
Sloan frowned slightly. "That long?"
"It's standard procedure," Manager Barrett explained. "If it hasn't arrived within 48 hours, please feel free to contact me at any time."
"Alright then."
After leaving the bank, Keeley headed home with his nephews. The journey was a four-hour drive.
By the time they reached Keeley's old hometown, it was past nine in the evening. Keeley went to stay with his eldest nephew, Trevor, for the night.
As soon as they arrived, Trevor's wife, Floy, greeted them warmly at the door. "Uncle Keeley, you're finally back! Have you eaten? There's still hot food on the stove!"
Keeley smiled. "We ate, we ate. Floy, don't go to any trouble."
"Then let me get you a glass of water. You must be tired after such a long car ride." With that, Floy bustled off to get him a drink.
Trevor followed his wife. "I'll help. Uncle Keeley, please, have a seat on the sofa and rest for a bit."
"Alright." Keeley nodded, his face wreathed in smiles. Although his life had had its share of regrets, he considered himself lucky to have four such wonderful nephews and nieces-in-law.
Trevor joined his wife in the kitchen.
The more Floy thought about it, the angrier she got. "Don't tell me he's planning on finding a young wife?" At his age, couldn't he just settle down quietly?
"Who knows what he's thinking! But the fact is, he still has a million in his account," Trevor said, grabbing a cold soda from the fridge. "Right now, Millard and the others are all eyeing that money, trying to figure out how to get the old man to stay with them."
Even though Keeley had already given them two million each, human greed was insatiable. With two million in hand, they now wanted the other million. They wouldn't rest until they had wrung every last cent from him.
"Get him to stay with them? No way!" Floy declared. "Millard and his family are no saints! Especially his wife—she's as cunning as they come. If he stays with them, she'll probably talk him out of that money in three days."
Trevor nodded. "You're right. That couple is bad news. That's why the old man said we're drawing lots tomorrow. Whoever's name he draws, he'll stay with them."
Floy was still dissatisfied. "Why draw lots? You're the eldest! He should be staying with us, no questions asked!"
Trevor glanced toward the living room again before continuing, "Right now, he has the money, so he calls the shots. The good thing is, he hasn't specified who he wants to stay with. It all comes down to tomorrow's draw."
Floy clasped her hands together. "Please, God, let the old man come to our house!"
After lingering in the kitchen for a while, the couple finally returned to the living room.
Floy was carrying a glass of water. "Uncle Keeley, I was worried coffee would keep you up, so I made you some warm herbal tea. It's very calming. You should try it. I picked the wild berries myself from the mountain a few days ago. No additives at all."

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
