The Don's Orphan Wife Is A Mafia Empire Princess (Elara) novel Chapter 70

Chapter 60 I’m Terrifyingly Strong Now

“CEO Parker, as you mentioned before, this contract should belong to me.”

Ethan Miller was still deep in thought when Evelyn’s voice suddenly broke through his reverie.

Only then did he remember the collaboration, and he was just about to step forward.

But recalling the words of the hospital specialists, his feet remained firmly planted in place.

He had already lost.

Khari Parker hadn’t expected Evelyn to actually possess such capability.

He certainly wanted to agree to Evelyn’s proposal, but the moment his gaze fell on Ethan Miller in the distance, he felt a sense

of dilemma.

“Normally, I would be keen to collaborate with Dr. Hart, but…”

Ethan Miller was someone he couldn’t afford to offend.

Evelyn quickly grasped his hesitation, her gaze landing unapologetically on Ethan Miller.

“Mr. Miller, fair is fair. You aren’t having second thoughts, are you?”

Ethan Miller’s eyes darkened, his voice raspy as he forced out the words.

“Of course, since you won, the collaboration is yours.”

Evelyn raised an eyebrow, narrowing her eyes with a hint of triumph.

“I believe Mr. Miller still possesses some credibility.”

Having said that, her eyes returned to Khari Parker.

“CEO Parker, I assume we can sign the contract now?”

Khari Parker glanced between Evelyn and Ethan Miller, feeling a strange tension in the air.

But this was not his concern. Noticing that Ethan Miller’s attention was solely on Evelyn and that he had no intention of

retaliating, he readily agreed.

“Alright, I’ll be waiting for Dr. Hart to come to the office to finalize the agreement.”

Evelyn’s face lit up with genuine joy, deliberately teasing, “This time, I hope no appointment is necessary?”

Khari Parker laughed along, waving his hand dismissively.

“I’m quite embarrassed! I almost wish I could turn back time with the entire company to welcome you in properly.”

The two engaged in lighthearted banter, momentarily ignoring Ethan Miller standing nearby.

Ethan Miller, however, remained oblivious to the distraction, his gaze fixed on Evelyn, lost in a distant memory from years ago.

Back in college, Evelyn came from a well-off family and displayed remarkable talent in medicine. She was, in fact, his rival.

Even the teacher he admired esteemed Evelyn highly and was willing to focus solely on her, leaving Ethan feeling abandoned.

He had once harbored resentment toward Evelyn, believing she had stolen his teacher from him.

Yet, the first time he had seen Evelyn, she was in a disheveled state, fighting to save a life.

That person, who was still considered his archrival, had let go of all grievances when faced with the fragility of life.

When he discovered that the girl had fallen into the water due to a breakup, Evelyn had even hired someone to confront and physically reprimand the boy, revealing his true colors within the campus.

At that time, Evelyn may have appeared fierce, but as the sunlight bathed her, she seemed like the sun itself, radiating warmth.

All at once, Ethan Miller felt an absence of resentment and found himself intrigued by her, beginning to pay close attention to everything about her.

The more he learned, the clearer it became just how exceptional Evelyn was.

at a glance.

When they were together, he attracted numerous admirers, all of whom were harshly rejected by Evelyn.

In love, Evelyn had provided him with unshakeable security.

Therefore, when Evelyn eventually married him, her mentor encouraged her to pursue further studies abroad, but he objected, leading her to abandon the idea.

How could he have forgotten that he had clipped Evelyn’s wings?

Truth be told, she had always been a genius in the field of medicine.

As Ethan Miller contemplated these thoughts, a rare wave of guilt washed over him.

He looked at Evelyn, her figure becoming clearer in his eyes.

A faint smile graced Ethan Miller’s lips, and his heart gradually grew resolute.

Perhaps it’s time to let go of the past; he recognized that he had been too accommodating towards Leah.

When Evelyn returned home this time, he could simply limit his meetings with Leah.

Once Ethan Miller regained clarity, it felt as if his heart had been revived, beating fiercely.

He stepped up to Khari Parker and Evelyn, interrupting their conversation.

“Evelyn, are we finished here?”

Ethan Miller’s gaze was soft as water, capable of embracing all of Evelyn’s caprices.

But such a look only startled Evelyn, prompting her to blurt out, “In just a few minutes, why do you seem even crazier?”

Ethan Miller instinctively ignored her remark, greeting Khari Parker instead.

“Since you’re done, I’m taking Evelyn. We need to discuss some personal matters.”

Khari Parker, of course, wouldn’t refuse, eagerly nodding.

“Alright, anytime, Miss Hart, you know how to reach me.”

Ethan Miller nodded, disregarding Evelyn’s protests as he took her hand and led her away.

Khari Parker observed their backs with curiosity and intrigue.

However, he quickly turned away; the Miller family was a formidable entity he could not afford to offend.

While eavesdropping might be entertaining, self-preservation was crucial.

Ethan Miller tugged Evelyn out of the Parker residence.

Evelyn struggled the entire way; sensing her resistance, Ethan glanced down and relinquished her hand.

“Evelyn, let’s have a serious talk.”

Evelyn rubbed her wrist, shooting annoyed glances at Ethan Miller.

“We have nothing to discuss besides divorce.”

Ethan Miller shook his head in disbelief. Even if he did believe it, he wasn’t about to listen. He sighed resignedly, treating her like

a petulant child.

“Evelyn, stop messing around. I’ve reflected on everything. I know I’ve put you through so much-you’ve been wronged. It was my fault; I realize that now.”

Evelyn paused her movements, glanced up at the sky, and muttered softly.

“Strange, the sun hasn’t risen in the west today.”

She regarded Ethan Miller suspiciously, backed up against the wall, arms crossed defensively over her chest.

“Ethan Miller, what trick are you trying to pull? I’m telling you, I’m stronger than ever and not the fool who let you deceive me

anymore.”

Yet, Ethan Miller showed no sign of anger, still gazing tenderly at Evelyn.

“Evelyn, I’m not joking. I’m genuinely seeking a truce.”

“I think back to our past. We should have been very much in love, but we’ve reached the point of divorce over others’ interference. I’m truly sorry.”

Evelyn didn’t feel any sincerity in Ethan Miller’s apology and only grew more vigilant.

“Ethan Miller, just tell me what you’re scheming. Don’t try to manipulate my feelings; I won’t fall for it.”

It was as if Ethan Miller hadn’t heard her. He continued speaking, lost in his thoughts.

“Evelyn, we once loved each other deeply. William is the fruit of our love; didn’t we promise to grow old together?”

At this point, Ethan Miller’s emotions surged.

“Evelyn, I was wrong. I regret everything. Please, let’s not get divorced, alright?”
