Chapter 919
“Decider Ten, take our future leader to her quarters so stie can rest.”
After Decider One finished speaking, his holographic figure flickered once before vanishing into thin air.
The moment he disappeared, Scott turned toward Hayley with a conflicted expression.
“Have you really thought this through?”
“Something this incredible? Of course I have.” Hayley sounded perfectly serious. “I’m contributing to the future of civilization here. Plus, I get to become the leader of the new world. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.”
Scott:stared at her with a look that seemed equal parts frustration and disbelief, but in the end, he still said nothing and simply led her farther inside. 2
This time, they crossed through the massive meeting hall and entered another pure white corridor identical to the previous one.
As Hayley walked, she noticed several lower levels visible beyond the corridor walls.
At least three underground floors stretched beneath them. Every single floor was packed with laboratories. Researchers in white coats moved nonstop through the halls, busy with endless experiments.
The entire underground complex resembled a gigantic ant colony, with interconnected passageways branching in every direction and linking countless rooms together.
Eventually, Scott brought her to a room.
“You’ll stay here.”
Hayley glanced around the spotless suite in front of her. The place was enormous, complete with a living room, bathroom, bedroom, and even a large observation balcony.
Of course, the scenery outside was still nothing more than holographic screens simulating the outside world.
The moment Hayley stepped inside, several researchers in white coats arrived, pushing a cart loaded with medical equipment.
“Decider One instructed us to administer today’s serum.”
The researchers spoke without the slightest emotion. Their cold, mechanical tone made them sound more like machines than humans.
They pushed the cart in front of Hayley and opened one of the sealed containers. Inside sat an unfamiliar scrum.
The instant Scott saw it, his expression tightened slightly.
Just as the researchers prepared the injection, he suddenly spoke. “Hayley, are you sure about this? Once the gift inhibitor is injected, there’s no turning back.”
