Harriet slammed her bowl down and stormed out the door like a gladiator.
"Ma'am..."
Two Whitaker hurried over.
Harriet looked around. "Where's Jason?"
Two pointed toward the elevators. "He already left for the summit venue!"
Harriet marched back into the hospital room. She picked up her phone with a murderous glare, fully prepared to start a war, but paused when she saw the message from Jason.
[The amount wasn't appropriate. I took the agreement with me!]
Not appropriate?
What the hell did that mean?
Was it too little? Or was it too much?
At the very least, he could have let her take one look at it so she could mentally prepare herself!
Knock, knock!
A soft tap on the door.
Harriet turned around and saw Archer pushing the door open, followed closely by Lana and Teresa.
"Her fever broke? Thank goodness... Seraphina, is there anywhere you feel uncomfortable?"
The little girl shook her head. Lana let out a massive sigh of relief, then looked at Harriet with a gentle tone. "You've worked hard, ma'am. After you finish eating, I can have the driver take you back home to rest. I can stay here and watch over Seraphina."
"No need."
Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Archer pretending to be perfectly calm, yet he was stealing glances at her over and over again.
Harriet shook her head. "We'll proceed with the original plan. We leave right after breakfast."
The car for the coastal expressway crossing had been arranged yesterday.
The timing was perfect to leave right after they ate.
Lana was stunned. "But Seraphina's fever just broke. If we get there and her temperature spikes again..."
"It won't." Harriet said firmly. "With their height right now, they can't go on many rides anyway. We'll just treat it as a leisurely stroll to get some fresh air. If she really feels unwell, we're close enough that we can head back at any time."
Lana looked completely disapproving. The relieved expression she had when she first walked in had instantly morphed back into deep worry.
Harriet pretended not to see it.
She didn't even know if she'd still be alive a month from now.
