At the kindergarten opening ceremony, Connor hung his head, the corners of his eyes red, looking as if he was on the verge of tears.

Killian, sitting behind him, took in the boy's expression and slightly leaned forward.

"Are you upset?" he asked.

"No, I'm not," Connor pressed his lower lip tightly, his mouth turning down in a pout.

Killian's heart softened. "Do you want Mom to come?"

"Mom never liked me anyway. It doesn't matter if she comes or not," Connor said coldly, but the anticipation in his eyes couldn't be hidden.

Killian didn't reply. He pulled out his phone and texted Jillian: "Connor agreed to let you come to his opening ceremony."

The message was sent, but a long time passed without a single reply.

He stood up, walked out of the hall, and called Jillian's number. The only response was the cold automated voice telling him the call couldn't be connected.

He dialed twice more, with the same result. Killian put his phone away and returned to Connor's side.

Connor looked up with wide, round eyes, his face full of hope. "What did Mom say?"

"She didn't answer the phone, and she didn't reply to my message."

Connor angrily puffed out his lips. "She probably thinks we're still mad at her."

Meanwhile, at the old Quincy estate, Leon had just finished calming Eleanor down.

Eleanor rubbed her throbbing temples, her tone exasperated. "When I saw that silk scarf, I thought it was a gift from your girlfriend."

Leon lowered his eyes, a brief shadow passing through them, before he looked up with a smile. "It's just a coincidence. It's just because Jillian and I have some work-related overlap."

"You're still hiding things from me," Eleanor scolded gently. "Ever since you came back, you've been constantly hanging around Daniel Langley. I know exactly what's going on. I've been covering for you on both ends because I'm afraid Killian would be upset if he knew."

Hearing this, Sienna quietly shot Eleanor a glance.
