"I heard Jillian is back."
"Yeah," Killian replied.
"What exactly is going on between you two now? Are you officially divorced?"
"When she walked out back then, we never formalized the paperwork. But after being separated for so many years, it's no different from a divorce." Killian's tone was flat, clearly unfazed by the matter.
"If that's the case, then make it clear. And as for you and Sylvia, you should give everyone an explanation of your future plans."
"An explanation?" Killian suddenly let out a low chuckle.
He noticed the pocket square in Gibson's suit was crooked. He reached out to fix it, then patted his shoulder lightly, his tone laced with a cold detachment. "I wasn't aware that I had to explain myself to anyone."
With that, he turned and walked right away.
Gibson stared at his back, completely displeased by his dismissive, almost provocative attitude.
At that moment, the teasing voices of their friends drifted over again.
"Knock it off, guys, or Jasper's really going to get mad."
"I hate to say it, Jasper, but you used to trash Jillian like she was nothing, and then you turned right around and eagerly went on a blind date with her. Don't tell me she played you?"
Jasper's face instantly darkened as he snapped back, "What kind of nonsense is that? You studied abroad and consider yourself educated, yet you're gossiping like a busybody!"
"Oh, so defensive now. Don't tell me you're still hung up on her?"
"Get the hell out of here!"
Jasper growled in frustration and quickly walked away to escape their mockery.
Gibson's face was full of surprise. He stepped forward and asked the group, "What did you just say? Jasper's blind date was Jillian?"
