By the third day of the summit, the mandatory schedule had concluded, leaving the remaining events optional. As night fell, Sylvia looped her arm through Killian's, strolling side-by-side along a wooded path.

"By the way, Killian, when you went to see Jillian last time about Connor, what was that about?" Sylvia asked softly.

"Jillian went to see Connor without my knowledge. I planned to nail down a set visitation schedule with her."

"You definitely need to make that clear. You two have been divorced for ages. If she uses the kid as an excuse to cling to you, it'll be hard for you to say no. But knowing you and Jillian share an unbreakable bond through Connor, I can't help but feel a little jealous."

Sylvia lowered her eyes, looking completely aggrieved and fragile.

Killian chuckled and changed the subject. "Speaking of which, when you confronted Jillian about stealing your resources, what did she say?"

Sylvia felt a twinge of guilt. That day, she had actually confronted Jillian about Daniel, so she gave a vague response.

"She didn't give a real explanation. It's obvious she was targeting me. From her perspective, it makes sense that she'd hold a grudge against us and want revenge."

By saying "us," she naturally grouped herself and Killian together.

Sylvia was about to say something else when a sharp, piercing pain struck her ankle.

She looked down and saw a dark shadow dart across her foot. Terrified, she leapt back and screamed, "A snake! There's a snake!"

"Sylvia!" Killian immediately reached out, pulling her into his arms as he swiftly stepped back.

But Sylvia had stepped on the snake in her panic, completely enraging it.

The snake lunged, its tongue flicking as it struck at them.

Sylvia was scared out of her wits, sobbing hysterically and completely losing her grip.
