Jillian instantly lost her appetite. She walked straight over to Daniel and gave him a quick rundown of her confrontation with Sylvia.
Daniel looked at her closely. "How do you want to handle this?"
"I had no idea this yacht belonged to Killian. If I had known, I would have never accepted the invitation."
"So you want to leave early?" Daniel asked.
It was the only viable option. Jillian knew perfectly well that if Sylvia went crying to Killian, he would undoubtedly have her escorted off in front of everyone, making the humiliation ten times worse. Sylvia was right about one thing—leaving voluntarily was the only way to retain any dignity.
Jillian nodded firmly. "I'm getting off this boat."
"Alright," Daniel agreed. "I'll go speak to the organizers."
The event staff had contingency plans for guests needing to depart early. Daniel offered a simple excuse, claiming that he and Jillian were suffering from severe seasickness and needed to head back.
The organizers quickly approved the request and dispatched a speedboat to pick them up.
Jillian and Daniel packed their essentials, boarded the speedboat, and slipped away from the yacht, heading back to shore.
At that moment, the evening banquet was just beginning. The guests were gathered in the main hall, completely oblivious to their departure.
Inside the banquet hall, Sylvia smugly noted Jillian's absence and happily mingled with the crowd, a champagne flute in hand.
Killian also noticed that Jillian and Daniel were nowhere to be seen.
He sent someone to ask around, and the organizers honestly reported that Mr. Langley and his companion had struggled with the ocean environment and departed early.
Killian gave a curt nod. He turned to the group around him. "Enjoy yourselves. I'm not feeling well, so I'll be retiring to my room."
