That night, Leon Quincy did indeed return to the Quincy estate.
He had prepared holiday gifts for both Eleanor Quincy and Sienna Sterling.
"Hey, Leon," Connor Quincy stood to the side, nodding obediently in greeting.
Leon leaned down, gently patting the boy's shoulder, a smile reaching his eyes. "Long time no see. You've gotten taller, Con. You're growing into a handsome young man—you look exactly like your mother."
The moment the words left his mouth, the temperature in the living room plummeted.
Eleanor and Sienna exchanged a quiet look. Everyone in the Quincy family knew the golden rule of praising the boy: you said he looked like Killian. No one dared, nor ever volunteered, to mention Jillian Jarrett.
Leon's comment sounded like a casual observation, but the deliberate undertone made everyone's skin crawl.
Before anyone could respond, Leon produced an exquisitely wrapped box. "A special gift, just for Con."
Sienna let out a tight laugh. "It's just a regular holiday. Who buys specific gifts for a child?"
"I haven't seen the little man in a long time. No need to stand on ceremony," Leon replied smoothly.
"Say thank you to Leon," Killian Quincy instructed.
"Thank you, Leon," Connor obliged, displaying none of his usual rebellious coldness.
Leon studied him and chuckled. "Con seems much more cheerful than before."
Eleanor looked pleased. "Yes, he's mellowed out quite a bit. He smiles when he sees people now. He's not as difficult as he used to be."
"It's probably because his mother is back in the country and he gets to see her often," Leon remarked casually.
Another deliberate jab right where it hurt.
Fury instantly flared in Sienna's chest. She rolled her eyes inwardly, certain that Leon had come back solely to stir up trouble.
