Seeing that there were still plenty of commuters leaving work in the parking lot and it wasn't too isolated, Jillian Jarrett let her guard down slightly and pushed the door open to get out.

"Can I help you?"

"Hello, Ms. Jarrett. I am Natalie Quincy's legal counsel..."

Hearing this, Jillian turned around, ready to get back into her car.

"Ms. Jarrett, wait a moment!" Julian Vance quickly stepped forward to stop her. "I just want to have a normal legal discussion with you to understand your demands. I have absolutely no intention of offending or bothering you."

"This is a criminal case, handled entirely by the police and the judicial system. I have nothing to discuss with you," Jillian replied coldly.

"Ms. Jarrett, we are willing to offer you a settlement of five million dollars in exchange for a statement of forgiveness," Julian urged.

Jillian paused her steps, turning back to shoot him a frosty glare.

Julian quickly evaluated her attire, her vehicle, and the premium office building they were at. Instantly realizing that five million wouldn't sway her, he immediately upped the offer. "Ten million! How about ten million dollars?"

Suspicion immediately flared in Jillian's mind.

Natalie was currently under police custody and investigation; it was impossible for her to hire someone privately to negotiate.

So who exactly sent this lawyer?

Her gaze turned somber, and she spoke mildly, "If you want to negotiate, show some real sincerity."

Julian's eyes lit up, assuming there was room for negotiation. "Whatever terms you want, Ms. Jarrett, just name them."

"Have your employer come and talk to me in person. I won't speak to anyone else."

Without another word, Jillian opened the door, got into her car, and drove off.

That night upon returning home, Jillian received a friend request on her social media. The profile had legal credentials, and she knew instantly it was the man from earlier today.

She rejected it without a second thought.

Immediately after, calls from an unknown number started ringing back-to-back, so she simply blocked it.
