Once the cameras turned away, Killian and Daniel dropped their hands, their expressions instantly hardening into cold indifference.

With the lenses gone, the atmosphere immediately loosened. The forced corporate diplomacy vanished.

"Sylvia!" a woman squealed in delight. "It's been ages!"

Sylvia turned and offered a practiced, flawless smile. "It really has."

She carried herself with the elegant poise of old money.

"Wow, that bracelet is stunning! With clarity like that, it has to be worth millions of dollars!"

Sylvia smiled modestly, pretending to be humble. "It's alright. A friend gave it to me."

The woman fawning over her was an old college classmate, a core member of the clique that used to orbit Sylvia, constantly seeking her approval.

The woman's gaze darted playfully toward Killian standing nearby, her face full of envy. "I don't even need to guess. Mr. Quincy definitely gave it to you. With how close you two are, it's only a matter of time before we're calling you Mrs. Quincy."

Her vanity utterly satisfied, Sylvia couldn't suppress the smirk tugging at her lips. She looked down, feigning shyness, and lightly brushed her hair behind her ear.

The moment the words left her mouth, her old entourage swarmed her.

"I had no idea! There wasn't even a whisper of this back in college. You and Mr. Quincy go that far back?" someone teased.

Sylvia stiffened slightly but smoothly covered her tracks. "We only reconnected after I came back from abroad. It just naturally progressed from there."

"That is absolute destiny!" the crowd cooed in agreement.

Sylvia smiled and looked up, her eyes locking onto Killian in the crowd.

He was speaking with someone nearby, clearly within earshot of their conversation.

He stood with his hands casually stuffed in his pockets. He glanced over at them, his expression utterly blank, and said nothing.

Seeing this, the group egged her on further. "Look at Mr. Quincy! He can't even look away from you for a second. The future Mrs. Quincy really has him wrapped around her finger!"

"Stop talking nonsense. It's way too early for that," Sylvia protested half-heartedly, bursting with pride on the inside.

"Please, it's basically set in stone!"

While they were laughing, someone spotted a figure nearby and waved. "Jillian!"

Jillian had crossed paths with Sylvia's clique a few times in college but had never joined them. Hearing her name, she offered a polite nod.

Several of the former classmates rushed over, trying to drag her into the circle. "It's been ten years since graduation! You're the only one who actually kept in touch with Sylvia. Why are you acting like a stranger? Come gossip with us!"

Jillian neatly sidestepped them, her tone warm but completely detached. "I'm good, thank you. You guys catch up. I'm keeping Mr. Langley company."

With that, she turned her back on them.

The group's faces instantly soured, their tones dripping with bitterness. "God, she’s gotten so arrogant. Not the sweet little mouse she used to be."

"She latched onto Mr. Langley, so her standards went up. Of course she thinks she's too good for her old classmates now."

The venomous whispers were loud enough for Jillian to hear, but she just offered a faint smile, utterly unfazed.

Daniel, standing beside her, heard every word. His eyes went cold. "Let's walk somewhere else," he murmured.
