Queenie's worst fear had come true.
She muttered 'bitch' under her breath and hurried over to Lianne.
When she reached Lianne, she saw that the older woman was not only pale, but her hands were trembling slightly.
Reaching out, she held Lianne's hands and called out anxiously, "Lianne..."
Renata didn't stay to clean up the mess, figuring there was no use for her here anyway.
She headed straight upstairs. Since she hadn't slept well last night, she decided to go catch up on some rest with her daughter.
Lianne's hands were ice-cold, so cold it felt like Queenie was touching a corpse.
Queenie knew Lianne had taken a massive blow. She had kept this hidden precisely because she was afraid Lianne wouldn't be able to handle the shock.
She knew how guilty her mother-in-law felt toward her, a guilt that Zander completely lacked.
Lianne had once said that if Zander ever dared to betray her, she would never let him off the hook...
Queenie didn't expect Lianne to fight for justice on her behalf; she only hoped Zander's disgusting actions wouldn't destroy her mother-in-law's health.
"Lianne, let's go sit on the sofa."
Queenie helped Lianne walk toward the couch.
"How much did you hear?"
She asked nervously, not entirely sure how much Lianne had actually caught.
After Lianne sat down, tears instantly filled her eyes. Her throat seemed blocked; she wanted to speak but couldn't get the words out.
"Lianne, don't be upset. I'm okay..."
Seeing her in such a state, Queenie tried to comfort her with an aching heart.
"Q-Queenie, w-what did she mean? Zander... had an affair with Dr. Whitlock? Is what she said true? Zander and her... he can actually?"
Lianne practically trembled as she forced the question out.
Tears streamed relentlessly down her face.
Queenie felt a suffocating tightness in her chest. She had already accepted the reality of Zander's betrayal and was no longer drowning in the past.
