The Fragrance Queen's Final Note novel Chapter 79

Queenie's mind instantly spiraled into chaos.

She hurriedly hung up the phone and bolted out of the hospital room, only one thought echoing in her mind.

She had to return. Immediately!

She had explicitly packed that folder in her suitcase before she left. How had Zander found it? She couldn't understand.

But one thing was absolutely clear: if Zander realized she had tricked him into signing divorce papers, he would lose his mind.

Human nature is driven by loss aversion. *I might not love you, but you sure as hell aren't allowed to dump me first.*

Someone as arrogant as Zander possessed an ego that would never tolerate it.

There were only a dozen or so days left before the mandatory waiting period was over. Having a wrench thrown into her plans now was the absolute last thing Queenie wanted.

That evening, the private jet departed Birmingham for Seaview City.

Weighed down by her anxiety, Queenie barely spoke the entire flight, only offering a profuse string of thank-yous to the "faux Mr. Zimmer" before takeoff.

By dawn, the jet touched down. Queenie practically sprinted off the plane, vanishing before anyone could even say goodbye.

Stanley hadn't expected her to flip a switch the second she got what she wanted.

Standing on the tarmac, he gritted his teeth.

"Talk about burning bridges. If I ever go soft on her again, I swear I'll..."

He racked his brain for a moment but realized he didn't exactly have the leverage to back up a threat, so he let it drop.

Queenie dropped off the roses at her atelier first, then immediately rushed over to the Calvert residence.

It was barely seven in the morning; Zander shouldn't have left for the office yet.

As she neared the house, she texted Zander: "I'm here."

Her car pulled up to the Calvert estate. Heart pounding, she walked toward the front door, only to be intercepted by Romy walking out.

The little girl immediately looked at her like an intruder.

She threw her arms out to block the entrance, glaring defensively. "Bad lady, what are you doing in our house?"
