The Heiress’ Return: Six Brothers at Her Beck and Call (Wynter Quinnell) novel Chapter 1934

Based on what Alois said, it was not just within the school that emotions were stirring. This could be happening anywhere.

Dalton spoke quietly. "What next? I'll follow your lead."

Wynter curled her lips into a smile. "I do have an idea. Since they want to incite emotions, let's find the ones pulling the strings behind them. We have to catch the ringleader to take down the gang.

"The account that transferred money to Alois belongs to Freddy Artie of Stellar Corporation. That alone proves he's connected to all these incidents. It's clear he doesn't have the brains to orchestrate it all himself. If that's the case, we'll use him to draw out the real mastermind."

Dalton gently brushed a strand of hair from behind her ear. "I'm with you."

Wolf cleared his throat and stared at them with wide eyes. "Mr. Leprechaun, do you not see me here?"

Hearing that, Dalton quirked a brow in amusement. "Five meals at KFC in exchange for you to stay invincible."

Wolf puffed up in protest. "No way! As if I would listen to you just for five–"

Dalton cut in smoothly, "Ten."

Wolf turned his head dramatically. "Ugh. Boss, Mr. Leprechaun is threatening me. It's not my fault! And I'm absolutely not agreeing just because of ten KFC meals!"

Wynter chuckled, eyes glinting. "Anyone can bribe you with food."

Wolf shook his head vehemently. "No way! If I don't like someone, even 100 KFC meals wouldn't sway me!"

Wynter patted his head. "Alright, it's time to leave this place. Let's hope this sanctuary doesn't get tainted again."

After speaking, Wynter led the two of them toward the school gate.

Suddenly, from behind a pillar, someone peeked out. He watched the trio leave, then pulled out his phone and made a call.

Once the call connected, the person on the other end, Freddy, said coldly, "What is it?"

He let out a sigh. "The plan's messed up. Alois had everything under control, but a random girl saw through the scheme. She even presented solid evidence, proving Alois had taken money from foreign powers and used it to incite the students' emotions."

Freddy snapped, "What? Who is this person? Who ruined our plan?"

He paused for a moment. "She's from the mainland. I think her name is… Wynter. Yeah, Wynter Quinnell."

There was a clear pause on the other end. "Wynter Quinnell?"

Freddy recalled that someone by that name had also recently joined Stellar Corporation. He continued, more sharply now, "Was there a man and a kid with her?"

The man nodded firmly. "Yeah, but they didn't do anything. It was just Wynter confronting Alois."

Freddy frowned deeply. "I'll take over this matter. If things at the school are ruined, so be it. But failure is not an option for the other locations. Understood?"

"Yes," the man said in a low voice. "I'll personally supervise them."

After hanging up, Freddy slammed a hand down hard on the table and muttered to himself, "Wynter… once I find out who you really are, you'll regret ever coming to Havenia!"

...

The night passed in the blink of an eye.

Dalton walked over to the vanity to get ready, while Wynter went to wake up Wolf. She had decided Wolf had to come along to Stellar Corporation today.

Once the three of them had washed up and gotten dressed, they exited the hotel and hailed a car, heading toward the company.

Dalton asked gently, "Do we really have to find the person behind all this?"

Wynter nodded firmly. "Yes. The evidence we have links the illegal dealings between the gambling sites and organ trafficking to Stellar Corporation.

"However, unless we uncover the mastermind, the threat will always remain. These past few years, foreign powers have seen Cascadia as an easy target. They've forgotten who they're messing with."

"Alright. I'm with you."

Wynter turned to meet his gaze. "I suddenly feel bad for making you go through so much."

Dalton let out a soft laugh. "What's there to feel bad for? This is my choice."

Wynter lowered her voice. "You could have stayed in Sorzada City and continued being king, but now, you're running all over the place with me."

Dalton's eyes were filled with warmth. "What's the point of staying there? Without you and your acupuncture, I might not even be alive now—"

Before he could finish, Wynter pressed her index finger to his lips. "Don't say things like that. In dramas, people who say stuff like that always end up in accidents."

Dalton took her hand in his. "Alright, I'll be wherever Mrs. Yarwood goes."

"And me as well!" Wolf suddenly leaned in. "You can't leave me behind!"

Wynter couldn't help but laugh. "Wolf, you're always everywhere."

Wolf nodded vehemently. "Of course! I saw Mr. Leprechaun holding your hand, so I had to join in, too. What'll happen to me if you get tricked away by him?"

Wynter ruffled his hair. "We'd never leave you behind. Don't worry."

While the group chatted, the car had already stopped in front of the company building.

Just as Wynter stepped out, she bumped into Jefferson and Freddy.

Freddy stared at her, and Wynter met his gaze. The two of them locked eyes for a few seconds.

Then, Wynter smiled and greeted them, "Good morning, Mr. Artie and Mr. Paige."

Freddy nodded slightly and walked into the building with Jefferson.

Wynter watched their backs, the smile fading from her face. "Freddy stared at me just now. He might have figured something out."

Dalton stood beside her and said lightly, "Maybe he was just stunned by how beautiful you are and couldn't help but stare, Mrs. Yarwood."

Wynter's gaze darkened slightly. "That'll be easy to handle if that's really all it is. Let's go in and check if Thea showed up for work today."

Meanwhile, Freddy glanced sideways at Jefferson. "Any updates on what I asked you to investigate?"

Jefferson nodded lightly. "They're definitely from the mainland. We've confirmed their home address, too, and the neighbors on both sides recognized Wynter. Her identity doesn't seem fake."

Freddy furrowed his brows. "Just because their identities are real doesn't mean they're clean. Yesterday, someone reported to me that Wynter and Dalton went to the university.

"The person I planted there was successfully stirring up student emotions, but she ruined everything. The entire operation failed just like that. Do you really think that's just a coincidence?"

Jefferson paused in thought. "There shouldn't have been any leaks in your plan. Maybe it really was a coincidence. Perhaps she just thought something sounded off in what the professor was saying and accidentally disrupted the plan?"

Freddy's face stayed cold. "If that's the case, then it's nothing serious. Once the workday starts, tell her to come to my office."

Jefferson nodded. "Yes, boss."

"Oh, right," Freddy added in a low voice, "has the matter with Thea been handled?"

Jefferson chuckled softly. "Of course. The client was very satisfied."

Freddy nodded and headed toward his office.

As Wynter and Dalton arrived at their desks, Wolf slumped over on the side, making up for lost sleep.

Wynter glanced over at Thea's workstation, then withdrew her gaze. "Thea still hasn't shown up."

Dalton nodded. "It's just as we suspected. Something probably happened to her after work yesterday."

Wynter's eyes darkened. "If that's true, then we might be next."

Just as the words left her mouth, Jefferson walked over. "Wynter, the boss wants to see you in his office."
