Esmond had always been calm and polite, but the moment he heard Nydia say that, he refused right away.
To him, counting his mother’s life in the hand of a young girl was simply absurd.
“That’s right, Aunt Nydia. Don’t let her fool you,” Brielle jumped in at once. “That woman is very sneaky!”
Since her father had spoken up, Brielle couldn’t help adding fuel to the fire.
“I trust Jeremy,” Nydia said firmly. “He’s willing to put his reputation on the line and vouch for that girl. That alone means we should try. It won’t take much time anyway.”
Although Nydia was the youngest daughter in the family, she had always been strong-minded.
Her husband’s family ran a business overseas and had worked closely with the Currans for years. In the past, she had dealt with Jeremy many times.
She knew the family well. They were a legendary family. And Jeremy himself was a rare genius, the kind you only see once in a lifetime.
If Jeremy had personally called her and guaranteed this, then this was no childish gamble.
“Besides,” Nydia added, “Amelia’s medicine already worked, didn’t it? One dose showed results. I don’t believe she has no real skill at all.”
Her clear and logical words left Esmond silent..
As the tension reached its peak, Amelia arrived. Jeremy was right beside her.
Nydia turned toward the sound and saw the two of them together.
They were striking. Both carried an uncommon presence. Their looks and posture stood out in any crowd.
Standing side by side, they looked like a perfect match, as if made that way.
No wonder Jeremy had called off his engagement with the Jordans. Cora and Bridget made that arrangement in private; there was nothing concrete.
It was Nydia’s first time seeing Amelia in person. She was even prettier than she looked on screen.
“Jeremy, you’re here,” Nydia said warmly. Then she looked at Amelia. “Ms. Amelia, I’ll be counting on you to take care of my mother.”
“You’re welcome,” Amelia replied politely. “Cora and I get along quite well.”
“Who wants to get along with you?” Brielle snapped. “You’re just a back-alley doctor. How dare you claim you can cure my grandma?”
She still couldn’t accept it. The fact that Jeremy had arrived with Amelia only worsened it.
She couldn’t understand why he protected Amelia so fiercely. He had even gone out of his way to talk to Nydia for her.

Chapter 448 Can You Guarantee the Result?
She used to think Jeremy was cool and decisive; now she felt he was just blinded by love.

“I also think this is a matter of life and death,” Sabrina said calmly. “We should be more careful. Why don’t we ask the experts for their opinion?”
Of course, she didn’t really want Amelia to help.
Whether Amelia could help or not was one thing. When she saw Jeremy standing beside her, the two of them together, it hurt Sabrina more than she expected.
“There’s no need to ask,” someone said. “If we ask, they’ll definitely say time is critical and surgery must be done immediately.
“After all, not many people would believe that a simple needle treatment could cure an illness this serious.”
Amelia spoke slowly, her tone relaxed and confident.
Her methods were not something ordinary, textbook-trained doctors could compare to.
Modern medicine wasn’t bad. Traditional medicine itself was vast and complex, with many paths.
“Ms. Amelia,” Esmond said as he stepped closer, “are you really that confident?
“If you fail to save my mother or if her condition gets worse and we miss the best time for surgery, how do we account for that?”
This was a human life. He had to be careful.
“I am confident,” Amelia replied with a nod. Then she lifted her chin slightly, a hint of pride in her smile.
“Right now, other than surgery, do you have any better option? The doctors must have already told you the worst case: that there’s a high chance she won’t survive the operation
“If they’ve already told you the worst outcome, are you planning to hold them responsible too?”
Amelia found his question ridiculous.
Even hospital doctors couldn’t guarantee what would happen after surgery.
Families were always asked to sign all kinds of consent and liability waivers. So why was it that when it came to her, she was expected to guarantee everything?
Of course, she trusted her skills. She wouldn’t have come if she wasn’t sure she could wake Cora up.
She disliked his attitude, and she disliked being questioned like this.
“If you want treatment, we treat her,” Jeremy said coldly, “If not, forget it.”
He took Amelia with him and left.
This was ridiculous.
Did Esmond really think he was Amelia’s boss or her sponsor? What gave him the right to question her?

The readers' comments on the novel: The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy)
I'm starting not to like Josie's character. If any man did all the things she's doing, they'd be considered creepy. This version of Josie is giving me the ick....
Does the novel ends in chapter 716 or is it still ongoing?...
Absolutely beautiful!...
Oh my! I really like Whitney (Jeremy's mum). She's so down to earth. She didn't even acknowledge Sabrina's presence....
I don't know what's with this new writer, but they are only making things worse. Gianna does in fact know how to ride a horse. She's had lessons and she even had a race with Amelia where she threw nails on the track to cheat. Gianna fell in the mud and was embarrassed when they pulled the cameras at a riding club owned by Jeremy....
Why did Cloudspire Estate change from a house to an apartment? Why is the writer acting like Jeremy does not own the property and he is not the one that allowed Amelia stay there? I hate when the writer does not remember what they wrote....
This is chapter 51 again when it should be chapter 52. Please fix for future readers....
New chapters please. If Amelia doesn’t end up with Jeremy I’m going to cry...
