Jeremy’s grip tightened on the steering wheel. His throat worked once, betraying him.
When he turned to look at her, that familiar heat was already burning in his eyes-restrained hunger laced with the kind of tenderness that always made her feel claimed.
“Oh?” His voice roughened. He eased off the gas, but his gaze stayed locked on her, close and inescapable. “Is Mrs. Curran trying to tell me something?”
The title made Amelia squirm. Heat crept up her cheeks. Then she decided she had nothing to be shy about.
She met his eyes with a calm that felt almost daring. “I just think work and rest have to be balanced. You’ve been running the company and helping me investigate the institute. You must be exhausted.”
She leaned in a little, letting her smile turn wicked. “So, how about we go home and find something relaxing to do?”
She lingered on the word, her tone lifting at the end in a pure invitation.
Jeremy let out a low, warm, smoky laugh in the small cabin, thickening the air between them.
“Gladly,” he said without hesitation. He pressed the gas, and the car surged forward, cutting toward home as if it couldn’t get there fast enough. “Since Mrs. Curran’s in the mood,” he murmured, his eyes darkening, “I will see it through.”
The look he gave her felt like it could swallow her whole. Even the air seemed to turn heavy, charged with what was about to happen.
Whitney, the workaholic, hadn’t shown her face in ages.
Now that she had finally taken time off, of course she had to come back and handle some serious business for Jeremy.
The last time she visited, she’d managed to set her still-single son up with Amelia-pretty, sweet, smart-the full package. Whitney had been insufferably proud of herself.
Seeing Jeremy off the market finally had made her happier than anyone. He had a title now, but it still wasn’t official. No paperwork. No certificate. It wasn’t legal or proper.
Until Jeremy was fully legitimate, Whitney wouldn’t sleep easy. So during this short break, she marched straight to his place again.
For once, Bridget didn’t complain about Whitney not staying at Curran Estate. There wasn’t a

She knew exactly why Whitney was running over to her grandson’s house.

The truth was, she was anxious too. She wanted them to get married yesterday, have babies tomorrow, and have a great-grandson in her arms as soon as possible.
These days, though, she was very satisfied with Amelia as a future granddaughter-in-law. She
adored her.
But every time Bridget remembered how she’d treated Amelia before, shame crawled up her spine. Amelia probably hated her. She probably wanted nothing to do with her.
Bridget couldn’t bring herself to apologize and was too embarrassed to show up at their door.
She pinned all her hopes on Whitney. If Whitney got the job done, Bridget could finally cuddle a great-grandbaby in peace.
Meanwhile, Whitney showed up at Jeremy’s house early in the morning. She’d assumed he wouldn’t be home and that he’d gone to Amelia’s place again.
Instead, Jeremy was home. Apparently, he had succeeded in getting himself into bed with Amelia.
What a wonderful surprise!
“Baby,” Whitney squealed, clasping her cheeks, half bashful and fully thrilled. “You move fast. I can’t believe you two are already here. That’s my boy. Obviously, you got it from me.”
“Mom, what are you doing here?” Jeremy was startled, but he immediately lowered his voice. “Amelia’s still asleep. Don’t be so loud.”
They weren’t even married yet, and he was already wrapped around her finger. He was already protecting her like his life depended on it. So this was what it felt like to raise a son only to lose him.
Whitney pouted but still softened her steps without thinking. She leaned in close, elbowed him, and raised her eyebrows like a shameless gossip.
“Not bad, kid. When did you take her down? Tell me the truth. Last night … was it intense?”
She punctuated her question with a scandalous eyebrow lift, as if she were settling in to watch a
movie.
Jeremy’s ears turned red. He shot her a look. “Do you have to be like this?”
He wasn’t about to give her anything to talk about later, especially not in front of Amelia.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy)
I'm starting not to like Josie's character. If any man did all the things she's doing, they'd be considered creepy. This version of Josie is giving me the ick....
Does the novel ends in chapter 716 or is it still ongoing?...
Absolutely beautiful!...
Oh my! I really like Whitney (Jeremy's mum). She's so down to earth. She didn't even acknowledge Sabrina's presence....
I don't know what's with this new writer, but they are only making things worse. Gianna does in fact know how to ride a horse. She's had lessons and she even had a race with Amelia where she threw nails on the track to cheat. Gianna fell in the mud and was embarrassed when they pulled the cameras at a riding club owned by Jeremy....
Why did Cloudspire Estate change from a house to an apartment? Why is the writer acting like Jeremy does not own the property and he is not the one that allowed Amelia stay there? I hate when the writer does not remember what they wrote....
This is chapter 51 again when it should be chapter 52. Please fix for future readers....
New chapters please. If Amelia doesn’t end up with Jeremy I’m going to cry...
