Chapter 672 Amelia, Stop Pretending

As if doing so would somehow make it seem like she had finally beaten Amelia.

Amelia lifted her coffee cup, her fingers lightly brushing the warm surface of the cup.

Her gaze rested calmly on Gianna’s face, twisted slightly by agitation, and there was even the faintest trace of a restrained smile at the corner of her lips.

“Gianna,” Amelia spoke at last. Her voice was not loud, yet it carried a steady calm that cut straight through the air. “You seem unusually invested in who I have meals with, and who I choose to forgive.”

She paused briefly, lifting her eyes. Her gaze sharpened like a blade. “But frankly, what does any of that have to do with you?”

“What does it have to do with me?” Gianna laughed sharply, as if she had just heard the biggest joke of her life.

“Amelia, stop pretending. You really think acting like this now erases all the humiliation you went through in the Nygard family?

“You really think you can forget how our parents favored me and treated you like a maid?

“Back then, the whole family treated me like a princess, and you were nothing more than a pet they kept around to amuse me.”

Emery’s face had already gone ashen. She tried to interrupt several times, only to be drowned out by Gianna’s rapid rant. Finally, she slammed her hand on the table and shot to her feet.

“Gianna! Watch your mouth! Who are you to comment on Amelia? What happens between us as mother and daughter has nothing to do with you!”

Emery was terrified. Her emotions, which had only just begun to settle after some time, were once again thrown into chaos by Gianna’s deliberate provocation.

She was afraid Amelia would fall for Gianna’s manipulation and end up hating her and her three sons all over again.

Marcelo, Miguel, and Maxwell had been trying relentlessly to earn Amelia’s forgiveness, constantly repenting and making amends.

If this woman succeeded in stirring things up, they would be completely devastated.

“Mother and daughter?” Gianna scoffed, as though hearing something even more ridiculous. She looked Emery up and down, then turned to Amelia, her eyes full of contempt.

“Emery, you really have some nerve saying that. Back then, you treated me like your real daughter, while your biological daughter looked like someone you picked up off the street. Everyone in the circle knew it.

“People whispered behind your back that something was wrong with your head. Now that Amelia seems to have turned out alright, you rush over to claim her again?”

“If I were Amelia, I wouldn’t be this patient. I’d have kicked you out long ago and cut ties completely.”

She turned to Amelia, her tone openly provocative. “Or is it that now you think having a mother like Emery finally benefits you? Is that why you suddenly play the role of a loving daughter and forgiving child?”

Throughout it all, Amelia never lost her temper. She listened quietly as Gianna finished every venomous sentence, then slowly set her coffee cup down, the soft sound landing clearly in the

room.

“Are you finished?” she asked, her tone still even.

Gianna choked on that calm, then grew even more furious. “What? Did I hit a nerve, and now you have nothing to say?”

“I just think,” Amelia said as she looked at her, a hint of pity in her eyes, “that your life seems to revolve around watching me. And that’s honestly tragic.”

She sat straight and poised, looking down at Gianna from a place of quiet composure. “As for who I eat with, who I reconnect with, who I forgive, or who I don’t, those are my choices. They have nothing to do with anyone else.”

“Gianna, stop trying to stir trouble. Tricks like this are laughably ineffective to me.”

“I actually think you’re jealous that my love life and career are going well, and that I’ve won back my family. That kind of jealousy must be hard to swallow.”

Amelia took an unhurried sip of coffee and let out a soft scoff.

Not only had her mood remained untouched, she even turned the tactic back on Gianna, deliberately poking at the rift between her and Regina.

“Didn’t you say you were going to be acknowledged by the Jordans as their heiress? Now that Mrs. Jordan won’t recognize you, you can’t even get through the door?

“Isn’t your biological mother supposed to be impressive? Why isn’t she helping you? Or is it that she can’t help you at all, or simply doesn’t want to, because she thinks you’re beyond saving?”
