After dinner, Emery held Amelia's hand and sat with her on the couch, rambling fondly about funny things from her childhood. Those memories, once buried under years of dust, felt vivid and alive again.
Her three brothers gathered around too, chiming in now and then to add their own versions, setting off waves of laughter.
It was warm, easy, and peaceful.
One person was missing, and he would never come back.
But somewhere above, if he could see his wife and children finally letting go of resentment and sitting together like this, he could rest in peace.
After Amelia and Jeremy returned home, she couldn't help pulling out the things Raymond had left behind, sinking back into memories.
"Dad, look at our family now. It's finally warm again. Are you watching over us? Can you give me a hint or something—help me find the one who killed you? Help me find the real mastermind?"
She muttered softly under her breath.
Holding the diary Raymond had left behind, Amelia flipped through it again and again, hoping to uncover some useful clue.
She was certain that the person backing Regina couldn't be someone as simple as Esmond.
There had to be someone else.
Esmond wasn't a pharmaceutical research expert, and he didn't have a medical background.
He didn't have the capability to support an entire secret laboratory on his own.
Which meant the one pulling the strings was still hiding in the shadows.
Amelia even suspected that the person might be connected to PharmaCore 01, maybe someone buried deep inside it.
That was why she had already asked Walter to keep an eye out.
She trusted Walter's character.
She didn't want to doubt him.
Just as Amelia was lost in thought, her phone rang again.
It was Truman.
"Hello, Truman," Amelia answered sweetly.
"Hey, Amelia. Sorry, I'm calling you this late. I hope I'm not disturbing you."
His voice on the other end was kind and warm, carrying that familiar, grandfatherly tone.
"No, not at all. What's up?"
"Nothing major. It's just that Walter's been wanting you back at PharmaCore 01 to help develop a new compound. He knows you've been busy lately, so he hasn't said much.
"But the project's been stuck. Everyone knows you're gifted in this area. They've been talking about you."
Truman chuckled, as open and easygoing as always. It was comforting just listening to him.
Her heart tightened. She knew Truman was sharp. He wouldn't miss even the slightest shift in her tone.
She steadied herself and forced her voice to sound light and casual.
"No, Truman. Just a lot going on lately. My head's a little messy. You know how much has been happening around me."
She deliberately sidestepped the deeper meaning in his question and steered the conversation elsewhere.
Truman wasn't the type to pry, so he didn't press further.
"You have had a lot on your plate," he said gently. "But none of it was your choice. Just face it head-on and handle it, that's enough."
"As for the compound, don't feel pressured. If you need anything, come to Walter or me anytime. Understand?"
Warmth spread through Amelia at his concern. "I understand."
"Once I wrap things up here, I'll come back and help."
After finishing the serious matters, they chatted about lighter topics for a while.
Truman even congratulated her on finding someone she loved and told her to cherish her happiness.
They talked for quite some time before finally hanging up.
As soon as she set her phone down, before she could even gather her thoughts, Jeremy—who had been sitting not far away like an obedient golden retriever—finally made his presence known.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy)
I'm starting not to like Josie's character. If any man did all the things she's doing, they'd be considered creepy. This version of Josie is giving me the ick....
Does the novel ends in chapter 716 or is it still ongoing?...
Absolutely beautiful!...
Oh my! I really like Whitney (Jeremy's mum). She's so down to earth. She didn't even acknowledge Sabrina's presence....
I don't know what's with this new writer, but they are only making things worse. Gianna does in fact know how to ride a horse. She's had lessons and she even had a race with Amelia where she threw nails on the track to cheat. Gianna fell in the mud and was embarrassed when they pulled the cameras at a riding club owned by Jeremy....
Why did Cloudspire Estate change from a house to an apartment? Why is the writer acting like Jeremy does not own the property and he is not the one that allowed Amelia stay there? I hate when the writer does not remember what they wrote....
This is chapter 51 again when it should be chapter 52. Please fix for future readers....
New chapters please. If Amelia doesn’t end up with Jeremy I’m going to cry...
