"Amelia, didn't you say you missed your dad? Perfect timing! Now, you can go find him and keep him company."
Truman wore a gentle, almost fatherly smile, but every word that came out of his mouth was more vicious and blood-soaked than the last.
"Yeah, it's time to wrap this up. Once everything's settled, I can finally marry Amelia and take her home with me."
Jeremy tossed that line out with an easy grin, and somehow, the air that had reeked of violence a second ago started bubbling with something almost sugary sweet.
Truman froze for a beat, then convinced himself that Jeremy was just making one last pathetic struggle before dying.
Before he could fully process it, a sharp snap of fingers cut through the air, and suddenly, a flood of people surged out from every direction.
They moved like they'd been waiting for this exact moment, crashing in so fast that Truman and Esmond were caught completely off guard.
Their men were overwhelmed in an instant, pinned down before they could even react, and within seconds, several officers rushed forward and seized Truman and Esmond alive.
"What's going on? What the hell is going on?" Esmond screamed in terror.
How are there suddenly this many cops?
The men they'd hidden in the shadows on standby had already been taken down, and now he himself was being dragged off in handcuffs.
Truman stared at the swarm of police cars and uniformed officers, then at the restraints locked around his own wrists.
What was there not to get?
He'd walked straight into a trap.
An icy chill shot from the base of his spine all the way up to his skull.
His eyes widened in disbelief as he scanned the disciplined, swift-moving officers around him, then snapped his gaze back to Amelia.
"Amelia! Y-You set this up from the start?"
His voice turned hoarse with shock and fury, the warm, cruel mask he'd been wearing shattering completely, leaving only something twisted and panicked underneath.
He couldn't understand it. His plan had been airtight—how had it unraveled like this?
The men he'd hidden away, the ones he'd believed were foolproof insurance, had been quietly subdued without him noticing a thing.
And he himself had strutted forward like a clown, stepping deeper and deeper into a net the other side had woven just for him.
He thought he was the one pulling the strings, only to realize in the end that he was the most foolish prey of all.
"Or what? Did you think we were idiots, just lining up to let you grab us?"
Jeremy looked at him like he was staring at someone hopelessly stupid.
"When? When did you find out? When did you figure out who I really was?"
Truman roared hysterically, rage and unwillingness choking his voice.
The only reason he'd been so confident—so sure he was the hunter—was because he believed they didn't know his identity.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy)
I'm starting not to like Josie's character. If any man did all the things she's doing, they'd be considered creepy. This version of Josie is giving me the ick....
Does the novel ends in chapter 716 or is it still ongoing?...
Absolutely beautiful!...
Oh my! I really like Whitney (Jeremy's mum). She's so down to earth. She didn't even acknowledge Sabrina's presence....
I don't know what's with this new writer, but they are only making things worse. Gianna does in fact know how to ride a horse. She's had lessons and she even had a race with Amelia where she threw nails on the track to cheat. Gianna fell in the mud and was embarrassed when they pulled the cameras at a riding club owned by Jeremy....
Why did Cloudspire Estate change from a house to an apartment? Why is the writer acting like Jeremy does not own the property and he is not the one that allowed Amelia stay there? I hate when the writer does not remember what they wrote....
This is chapter 51 again when it should be chapter 52. Please fix for future readers....
New chapters please. If Amelia doesn’t end up with Jeremy I’m going to cry...
