Chapter 103
~GRAYSON~
They were waiting when I came out of the tunnel. Dozens of reporters.

I had told them I would answer after the game. They had taken that as an invitation to block the exit. Flashes went off before I stopped walking. They weren’t focused on anyone else. Just me.
Someone shouted my name. All I wanted right now was Blair. A closed door and no cameras. Some time alone with her. I missed her so damn much and I only had myself to blame for everything. I knew I had to get this over with first. I was tired of the way the media portrayed her. Tired that they dragged her name like she wasn’t someone with real feelings.
“Grayson, how does it feel to be back?”
“You won it for them tonight–walk us through that third period.”
“Does this feel like you put the team on your back?”
I gave them the easy answers. That it felt good to play after missing four games.
Then the questions shifted. They’d finally gotten to what they really wanted to ask me.
“Blair Monroe was here tonight. Everyone was surprised to see her. People couldn’t stop asking. Is she still your wife?”
“Did the divorce go through? Is it on hold?”
“Are you back together? Did you manage to work things out behind the cameras?”
“Was tonight a reconciliation appearance? Can we expect to see more of her?”
“Did the Monroes force this?”
That last one pissed me off.
I looked straight into the nearest camera.
“Yes. She is still my wife. That will never change.”
That was all they needed to go crazy with even more questions.
A chorus of wait, wait, say that again followed.
“I made a mistake,” I said, louder. “Blair signed the divorce papers because I didn’t realize what I had until it was too late. Even though she signed it, I never did. I am glad I didn’t. I couldn’t. I am so fucking in love with her I cannot imagine my life with anyone else. She left because of a mistake that I made. Not the other way around. I want to make that clear to everyone listening.”
I did not want anyone putting the blame on Blair.
“Did you just say you never signed them?”
“So then you truly are still married to her?”
“Does Lily know that you are back with Blair? Where is Lily in all of this? Is she your mistress?”
Fuck. I didn’t want to answer questions about Lily. I still hadn’t gotten the chance to tell her everything yet. I was hoping she wouldn’t see this interview before I met her in person to explain that things between us was over for good.
“Are you living together again?”
“Was the park kiss with Chase staged?”
“Did Holt threaten you on the ice tonight?”
I did not answer. I picked the pieces that mattered and let the rest die in the noise.
“Now that you know the truth, I do not want a single person disrespecting my wife again. She did not cheat. Chase kissed her that day at the park, I h

messed up and he did not know how to let go. That is not on her. Maybe ask him about his relationship with his wife. Leave mine alone.”
A reporter shoved in from the side. “Sources said she visited him in the hospital the same day you fought-
“You will soon know why she was at that hospital. Next question.”
“What about Lily Sinclair? There were photos of you together after the split.”
“Did you cheat on Blair with Lily?”
“Lily is my past.” I said quickly. “I will always care about her. I am not going to pretend those years did not happen. But Blair is my future. That is not a maybe. That is the fact I should have said out loud before I let her walk out on me. And I can only hope she will forgive me for the wrong I’ve done.”
