The heavy wooden doors of the courtroom shut with a loud, sharp click. A second later, the bailiff called the room to order, and the judge walked in and took his seat at the top bench.
The entire room went dead silent. Nobody was moving, and nobody was whispering. The hearing was officially starting, and my heart was beating so fast against my ribs I thought it would burst.
My hands shook a little as I pushed my chair back and stood up at our table. Every single eye in the room was on me, waiting to see if I would break down, but I forced myself to stand tall.
I took a deep breath, forced my voice to stay steady, and began to tell the story of the company. I explained exactly how my dad had started it from nothing, pouring his sweat, blood, and tears into building it from scratch.
It wasn’t just a business to him; it was his life. As I spoke, our lawyer walked up and handed over the real, original company documents and financial records to the judge.
The truth was right there on the pages, written in black and white. But the moment I stopped to take a breath, my wicked uncle let out a loud, mocking laugh from across the aisle.
“This is a complete joke, Your Honor,” my uncle said, standing up confidently with a smug look on his face. He didn’t even look at me; he just pointed a finger at the papers on my table. “Those documents are completely old and useless. The girl is clearly out of her mind and desperate. My late brother willingly gave the entire company to me right before he died. He knew he couldn’t trust his kids with it. I have the signed transfer agreement right here.”
“That is a disgusting lie!” I shouted, my voice echoing loudly through the high courtroom. I couldn’t hold my anger back anymore. The sheer boldness of his lies made my blood run hot.
“My father never had any plans to give you anything! He died in a sudden car accident. He wasn’t expecting to die, so why would he give his life’s work to you right before a trip? Even if he wanted to step down, he had a son–my late older brother! My dad loved his children. He would never pass over his own kids just to hand his legacy to a snake like you.”
My uncle didn’t even blink at my words. He just gave a small nod to his lawyer. His attorney was one of the richest, most famous lawyers in the country, hired with the very money they had stolen from my father’s bank accounts.
The man stood up smoothly and began to back my uncle up perfectly. He confidently laid out a thick stack papers on the table, claiming they were the legal documents signed by my dad.
The rich lawyer spoke with so much smooth confidence and used so many confusing legal words tha head started to spin. My stomach began to twist into painful knots.
For a moment, I got incredibly nervous. I looked at the judge, terrified that he was actually believi and their fake papers. But Brandon’s lawyer didn’t come to play.
He didn’t look scared of the celebrity lawyer at all. Instead, he smiled calmly, walked up to the front, a

With sharp precision, Brandon’s lawyer began to point out the mistakes on the papers.

He proved that the ink used for my dad’s signature didn’t match the actual date on the paper, and he showed that the company stamp was completely fake and digitally copied.
The defense table went completely quiet. The rich lawyer sat down, and my uncle’s face turned bright red with pure anger.
But Brandon’s lawyer wasn’t done yet. To make things ten times worse, he turned around and completely changed the direction of the case from fraud to something much darker. He brought up my parents‘ death.
