Chapter 154

ARIA’S POV

Fred did not respond. He just sat there, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water, completely unable to find a single word to save himself.

I looked around the table at the confused faces of the directors. I didn’t want to drag this out in front of everyone. I stood up straight, pressing my hands firmly onto the dark wood.

Thank you all for your time today,I told the board members, my voice sharp and clear. “I wanted to officially introduce myself. I am Aria, your real CEO, and I am finally back to take full control of my father’s legacy.

Before the directors could even stand up to cheer or clap, a loud thud echoed from the back of the room. We all turned to look.

The sassy secretary, who had been hiding in the corner of the room to watch the meeting, had completely passed out onto the floor from sheer terror. I didn’t even blink. I looked back at the board. The meeting is dismissed.

The directors quickly hurried out of the room, leaving the passedout secretary on the floor. The moment the heavy doors clicked shut, Fred scrambled out of his chair.

He dropped straight to his knees, slid across the floor, and grabbed my leg tightly. He began to plead hysterically.

Miss Aria, please! I am so sorry!Fred cried, tears streaming down his face. What you saw in my officeIt was a terrible mistake. It was just a moment of weakness, I swear.

I kicked my leg out of his grip with disgust. Get your hands off me, Fred. What you do with your side chick in your spare time is none of my business. That is not even my concern right now. Why the fuck did you lie to me about our company stocks dropping?

Fred trembled, hiding his face in his hands. Please, Miss Aria, don’t fire me. Don’t let this get out to the public. If my wife finds out, it will ruin my entire life!

I leaned down, staring into his scared eyes with a cold smile. You should have thought about your wife before fucking your secretary. Right now, you are going to tell me the truth. You won’t like the way things will turn out for you if you don’t start talking to me immediately.

Hearing the threat in my voice, Fred completely broke down. He finally confessed.

Someone found out about my secret affair.Fred gasped, shaking all over. They took pictures of us. They threatened to expose everything to my wife and the media if I didn’t call you and lie about the stocks dropping. The person wanted you to return to the city as soon as possible. They knew you would come back if the company was in danger. I had to do it, Miss Aria. I was so afraid of losing my reputation.”

The moment the words left his mouth, a wave of hot fury rushed through my veins. Without even thinking twice, I knew there could only be one person in the entire world who would do something so manipulative and

wicked.

Julian.

I was seething with pure rage, my fists clenching so hard my nails dug into my palms. I looked down at Fred with absolute disgust.

You and your side chick are fired,I said, my voice dead and cold. Pack your bags and get out. I will never harbor disgusting, weak liars like you in my company.

Fred and the secretary who was just waking up from the floor, began to beg and cry, but I didn’t listen to another word. I turned on my heel and stormed out of the office.

As I rode the elevator down to the garage, my hands were shaking with anger. I pulled out my phone. I didn’t have Julian’s number anymore, but I knew who did.

I searched through my contacts, found Bl

immediately. The line rang twice before.

he picked up. Hello?Blake said, his voice full of shock. Aria? Is that really you?

Where is Julian right now, Blake?I demanded, skipping any greetings.

Aria? Are you back in the city? Is everything fine?Blake asked, sounding incredibly worried.

I asked you a question, Blake. Where is he?

He’she’s at the city’s main hockey rink,” Blake stammered. He’s practicing for the tournament—

Before he could finish his sentence, I ended the call right in his face.

I jumped into my car and drove down to the city’s hockey rink like an absolutely insane person. My mind was completely blank with rage. I slammed on the gas pedal, zigzagging through the streets and even beating traffic lights in the process.

All I could think about was Julian’s arrogant face.

When I finally arrived at the massive sports complex, I slammed my brakes and ran toward the private

entrance gates.
