The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 109

"Okay, I understand. Thank you, doctor."

The doctor glanced at Vivica's bruised face, his brow furrowing slightly. "Ms. Lynn, what happened to your face? Have you had it looked at?"

Vivica was too worried about her son to care about herself. "It's just a few scrapes. Nothing serious," she replied gratefully.

After the doctor and nurse left, she pulled her son into a tight hug, fighting back the tears that threatened to spill over.

Chaim wrapped his small arms around her neck. He knew his mother was upset and tried to comfort her. "Mommy, Chaim was really brave, wasn't I? You should praise me."

Vivica took a deep breath, composing herself. She pulled back slightly and cupped his face in her hands. "Yes, you were. Chaim was incredibly brave. So, so brave!"

Chaim looked at his mother's injured face and gently placed his own small hands on her cheeks. "Mommy, Daddy did this, didn't he? I heard you talking to Ruby…"

Vivica didn't want her son caught in the middle of their adult problems. She forced a smile. "Mommy's fine now, it doesn't hurt. Don't you worry about it, sweetie."

"Mommy, can we not have that daddy anymore? Okay?"

Looking into her son's innocent but serious eyes, Vivica nodded firmly. "Okay. We'll listen to Chaim. We won't have that daddy anymore."

"Mommy, I still want Uncle Joseph to be my daddy. You like him, so you should just be with him…" the little boy whined, tugging on her arm.

Vivica didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "Honey, it's not that simple."

"But Ruby said I look like him, so I must be his son. She said we'll be together with him sooner or later."

Vivica’s expression froze. "Ruby told you that?"
