The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 199

Petty!

Harris’s heart shot straight into his throat as he sprinted toward the elevator at the end of the hallway.

Felton’s face tightened. “Catch him. Don’t make a scene. No one else can know about this.”

He especially didn’t want Franco, who was just downstairs in the third-floor ballroom, to suspect a thing.

An assistant leaned in with a hushed voice, “Sir, the banquet’s about to start. If you don’t show up soon, people are going to get suspicious.”

“We’re going to the third floor, now.”

Walking into the ballroom, Felton caught a glimpse of Franco. He looked as calm and cold as ever, his presence impossible to ignore. Felton barely glanced his way before quickly looking away and blending in with the crowd.

Moments later, a bodyguard came over and spoke under his breath. “Sir, Harris just took a speedboat. He’s chasing after them.”

Felton didn’t let his expression change, but his hand curled up tight at his side. That reckless son of his was losing his mind because of that woman.

But sending more people after him? Too risky. If there were suddenly a bunch of speedboats and yachts tearing across the water, it would draw way too much attention. Franco would realize something was off, and that would be disastrous.

All Felton needed was a little more time. As long as he got it, Petty would be on international waters and out of reach.

He forced himself to stay calm. “Leave him alone for now,” he muttered.

Out on the open sea, the wind sliced across Harris’s face so sharply it hurt.

He’d lost precious time, and now the yacht with Petty was completely out of sight.

He slammed the throttle as far as it would go, lights cutting through the haze. Cold saltwater sprayed up all around him, soaking him to the skin until he was almost numb. Even his hands, icy and swollen, kept a white-knuckle grip on the steering wheel.

Then, finally, he spotted the faint outline of a yacht’s stern out over the water.

Tiny drops of seawater clung to his eyelashes. His pulse raced. He knew the truth: there was no way he could get Petty out of there by himself.
