Listening to the man beside her ramble on, Lexie could only let him half–drag her into Arthur’s lab.
As soon as she stepped inside, Lexie’s eyes swept over the messy ab and landed on Arthur, sprawled among a pile of lab equipment.
His body was already changing. Fine fur was sprouting on his skin, and his eyes had turned blood–red. He looked terrifying.
Lexie’s heart skipped a beat, but she quickly steadied herself.
She knew she had to stay calm and help Arthur get his condition under control as soon as possible.
She hurried over to Arthur, trying to bring him back to his senses. “Dr. Cole, can you hear me? It’s Lexie. Stay with me. I’ll help you, okay?”
But Arthur didn’t seem to hear a word she said. He looked like hed completely lost his mind, thrashing around in a pile of shattered lab equipment.
His frantic movements caused the shards to cut deep gashes into his skin, blood pouring out and pooling on the floor.
One glance at him was enough to send chills down anyone’s spine.
Seeing Arthur like this, Lexie didn’t have time to be afraid. She cradled his head, determined to try the only way she knew to treat his genetic disorder.
After all, just yesterday, she’d managed to Heal the beastmen’s genetic disorder with nothing more than a simple touch.
‘Could this work for Arthur too?‘ Lexie wondered.
With that thought, Lexie ignored Arthur’s frantic thrashing and held him close, desperate to save him through sheer physical contact.
As Lexie kept murmuring words of comfort, Arthur slowly stopped struggling, his emotions gradually calming down.
Not only that, but the beastman traits on his body slowly faded away, returning to normal.
Seeing Arthur restored, Lexie finally felt her heart settle.
Arthur is a good guy, and he’s always been kind to me. I really can’t bear to see him get hurt,‘ Lexie thought.
As Arthur was carried off by the med team, the cleaning bots were already sweeping up the mess on the floor.
Lexie turned and took a look around. The place was full of weird gadgets she had no clue about,
Since she didn’t understand any of it, Lexie didn’t dare touch a ting, worried she’d wreck Arthur’s lab.
Arthur’s lab was connected to the clinic, since he was in charge of both his research and keeping the whole crew in one piece.
Just as Lexie was standing there, checking out the place, a beastran covered in wounds was carried in from outside.
His face was smeared with blood, so Lexie couldn’t even see wh he looked like. But from the state of his clothes, it was clear he was in bad shape.
Under Lexie’s curious stare, a few people worked together to loa the beastman into a transparent pod.
A guy in a white uniform pulled out a sparkling crystal core from his kit and slotted it into the machine.

The next moment, he pressed his hand to the slot, and the whol pod lit up with an eerie blue glow.

The blue light seemed almost alive, swirling around inside the god before suddenly shooting straight into the beastman’s body.
Wherever the blue light passed, the beastman’s wounds healed instantly, right before everyone’s eyes.
Lexie was left speechless, totally floored by what she saw.
She marveled inwardly, ‘Oh, this pod is literally magic. Since it’s really that miraculous, could it eliminate the malignant tumor growing inside me?‘
Her days were numbered, and the pain gnawing at her body made every single day a living hell.
She’d thought she was ready to face death, but now that she saw real shot at surviving, she couldn’t just give up.
Seeing the beastman who’d been gravely injured just moments ago now sitting up in the pod, perfectly fine, Lexie was left shocked and also burning with hope for her own survival.
Driven by desperation, Lexie hurried over and grabbed one of the beastmen by the arm, her voice trembling with urgency. “Sir, can this machine cure all kinds of diseases?”
“Hmm? Are you Lex?” the beastman replied, recognizing her.
Realizing it was Lexie holding onto him, the beastman with striking features instantly turned gentle.
“Lex, is there something you want to ask me?” the beastman asked.
“I mean, can this machine really cure all kinds of diseases?” Lexie asked.
The beastman replied, “Absolutely! This treatment pod can heal pretty much anything, except for the Clyssia Virus. Internal injuries, external wounds, other illnesses, you name it, this thing can handle it.
“But the crystal core is essential. Only when the energy from the crystal core gets converted into blue micro–particles can the pod actually heal someone.”
“Crystal core? You mean that sparkly stone you just put in the pol?” Lexie asked.
“Yep, that’s the one,” he confirmed.
“Where can I get some crystal cores? I want them too,” Lexie asked.
The beastman chuckled at her question and explained with a smile, “Lex, crystal cores aren’t something you can buy. They’re military supplies, strictly controlled by the army.
“You only get some as a reward if you earn merit in the army. It’s something our superiors hand out for real achievements.”
“So, if I earn merit, will Marshal Drake reward me with a crystalore?” Lexie asked, hope shining in her eyes,
Seeing how anxious Lexie was, the beastman blinked, confused y her urgency. “Lex, even if you have human emotions, you’re still just an artificial female bot.
“Your body was built in a lab, so you can’t actually get sick. Whyo you want a crystal core?”
“I… I…” Lexie stammered.
She hesitated, fidgeting nervously before finally blurting out, “U, I… I just like shiny things. That crystal core is so sparkly. I really love it.”

He replied, “Oh. I get it. Lex. I don’t have any crystal cores left, bt I’ve got a bunch of pretty gemstones. They’re just as shiny. I bet you’ll love them.
“Here, take these. All these beautiful gemstones are yours. Think of it as a thank you for helping me out with my gene problem last time.”
As the beastman pushed the box into her hands, Lexie felt a pan of guilt for lying.
T–This is way too much. I really can’t accept it. Why don’t you take it back?” she stammered.
But the beastman just grinned and shook his head, refusing to take it back.
He said, “Lex, feel free to keep them. Now that Ms. Graham is gone, nobody else in this world loves these shiny gems
anymore.
“Since no one loves them, these gems don’t mean much to us beastmen. But if you like them, at least they’ve found someone who appreciates them.
“If I ever find more pretty gems, I’ll bring them back for you.”
Hearing that, Lexie felt so touched that she could barely handle.
Overwhelmed, she couldn’t resist giving him a hug. “Thanks. I can’t remember your name, but thank you.”
“I’m Leo Rivera. And seriously, you don’t need to thank me,” Leo replied with a warm smile.
As Leo held her soft body in his arms, a wave of unfamiliar warmth washed over him. His whole body relaxed, and he felt lighter and happier than ever.
Leo wondered, ‘Is this Lexie’s magic? Just a simple touch from her is enough to calm the beastman side in me, making me feel comfort and peace I’ve never known before.‘
