As Gary spoke, the ice beastman loomed close, his massive head dipping toward Gary as if sniffing him, trying to catch his
scent.
With each step the ice beastman took, the pressure rolling off him grew heavier, like a mountain bearing down on Gary, he could barely breathe under the weight.
Gary looked up into the ice beastman’s cold, emotionless eyes, and his knees started to shake.
Despite the freezing air, Gary was so terrified that cold sweat beaded on his forehead.
As the ice beastman sized him up, Gary was filled with awe and fear, but he forced himself to stand his ground. He knew that
acking down now would only put the ice beastman on guard.
As Gary’s nerves stretched to the limit, the ice beastman’s huge pupils shimmered with an eerie blue light, scrutinizing Gary with a chilling intensity.
The ice beastman’s breaths grew heavier, each one sending an icy gust that cut straight through Gary, making him shiver to
is core.
Gary forced himself to stay calm, trying to steady his voice before he finally spoke, though a faint tremor still betrayed his
erves.
Sir, I didn’t mean to trespass on your territory. I’m just here searching for someone, a beautiful female. She’s… she’s my nate,” Gary stammered.
The ice beastman tilted his head, repeating in a low, puzzled rumble, “Mate?”
fter what felt like an eternity, he finally broke his silence.
His voice was hoarse and awkward, as if the words scraped out from a throat unused to speech.
I sounded like it echoed from the depths of ancient glaciers, heavy with a chilling, timeless authority.
That female you mentioned… she’s your mate?” he asked, his icy gaze fixed on Gary.
Yes. She’s everything to me, I can’t lose her,” Gary said, his voice shaking with emotion.
She was just taken by bloodthirsty beasts. Her scent led me here,” he added, desperation in every word.
Sir, I swear I’m only here to find my mate. Once I find her, I’ll leave immediately. I promise I won’t disturb your peace,” Sary pleaded.
The ice beastman went quiet, picking up on the urgency and anxiety in Gary’s voice, as if judging whether Gary was being
jonest.
After a moment, his voice softened, just a little, as he finally spoke
Your mate… what does she look like? You said she’s your mate, do you carry her bond totem? the ice beastman asked
Bond totem? I don’t have one, but my totem is on Lexie’s chest, not mine,‘ Gary replied
Is that so?” the ice beastman rumbled, his tone hard to read.
As Gary spoke, the ice beastman’s huge snake tail crept closer, Inching toward him.

Gary instinctively tried to step back, but the ice beastman’s crushing aura locked his body in place, he couldn’t move at all.
All Gary could do was stare, wide–eyed, as the ice beastman’s tail lightly brushed against his forehead.
The next moment, Gary felt a sudden, sharp pain in his head, as if something was erupting straight out of his forehead.
When the ice beastman saw the totem appear on Gary’s forehead, a knowing look flickered in his eyes.
He stepped back a little, and in a swirl of icy mist, his massive beast form melted away, revealing his beastman shape. He tood not far from Gary, regarding him with a detached, icy stare.
As Gary finally got a clear look at the ice beastman’s face, for some reason, he felt an uncanny resemblance between him and Lexie.
Noticing Gary’s confused look, the ice beastman said in a surprisingly gentle voice.
My name is Frost. I’m the guardian of this frozen tundra,” he said.
Sir, I’m Gary,” Gary replied.
Gary, come with me,” Frost said.
Gary hurried after him, anxiety etched on his face as he walked, unable to hide his worry.
Sir, my mate was taken by bloodthirsty beasts. I tracked her scent all the way here, but now I’ve lost it. Did you see her round here?
Her name’s Lexie Goodwin, she’s really beautiful, a female,” Gary added, his voice trembling with concern.
Faced with Gary’s inquiry, Frost did not answer his question. He simply walked straight ahead until he reached the very enter of the cave. Then, to Gary’s astonishment, the ice layer at the heart of the cave parted, sliding away to both sides.
As the heavy ice moved away, something began to rise up from below. When the platform finally emerged in front of him, Gary’s jaw dropped and his eyes went wide with shock.
Is that… Lex?‘ Gary’s heart pounded with hope and shock.
He stared at the woman lying on the platform, seemingly asleep. Her face was almost a perfect match for Lexie, and before
e knew it, he was already stepping forward.
But as he drew closer, he realized he’d been wrong.
This woman wasn’t Lexie. She looked uncannily like her, but everything else, her clothes, her aura, was completely different.
When Lexie was snatched away by the bloodthirsty beasts, she was dressed in bright, eye–catching clothes. She always had that sweet smile and a spark of energy that made her so lively.
But the woman lying on the platform now was wearing a plain, elegant white dress, the skirt fluttering softly as the platform lifted her up.
Even though her eyes were shut, there was a hint of sadness on her face, like she was carrying the weight of the world.
