As soon as Gary stepped into the cave, he caught the familiar scents of Lexie and Kaelis lingering in the air.
He noticed the deliberately smashed rocks inside and the makeshift wall at the entrance, clearly built to shield against the snow and wind.
It was obvious that Lexie and Kaelis had been here not long ago.
With that thought, Gary quickly looked around, but all he saw was an empty cave, there was no sign of Lexie or Kaelis anywhere.
There were clear signs someone had been here, but the place was deserted. As Gary peered into the pitch–black cave, a chill ran down his spine. ‘Did bloodthirsty beasts drag them deeper inside?‘ Gary couldn’t help but worry.
He lifted his gaze to the gloomy, endless cave ahead, and every so often, weird sounds echoed out from the darkness.
He had no clue what was hiding in there, but just hearing those noises was enough to tell Gary this cave was bad news.
But thinking about Lexie and Kaelis missing, Gary hesitated, but then decided to head deeper into the cave to look for them.
Worried about running into bloodthirsty beasts, Gary watched his step, alert for any danger as he moved inside.
The light in his hand was bright, but as Gary slowly went further in, he couldn’t help but feel his nerves tighten.
Even though he was scared and uneasy, Gary knew he had no choice, he had to go in.
Lexie was his mate, and Kaelis was his friend. He couldn’t just leave them in danger.
He edged along the cave wall, staying alert for any sign of trouble. The last thing Gary wanted was to run into that bloodthirsty beasts and get his blood sucked dry and his flesh torn apart.
Cary kept himself on full alert the whole way, glancing around nervously, worried that something nasty might jump out at him any second.
As Gary kept moving deeper, he suddenly heard a faint, slithering sound right under his feet.
Instinctively, he looked down and spotted a whole swarm of snow worms wriggling around his books
They were all fuzzy and bunched up together, honestly, they looked downright nasty
Gary knew these wow worms weren’t dangerous, so he didn’t bother worrying about them. But what really made him passe was the fact that snow worths were basically snack food for the medium–sized predators that roared the snowy mountains
If there were show worms crawling scound here, that pretty much guaranteed there were some mestu siçal carnivéges lurking deeper inside this cave
Just like Gary expected, after heading in a bit further, he came across the body of some meum sized prestat
But all he found were a bunch of shriveled–up corpses
God knows how long these things had been dead, thanks to the freezing cold in the cave, their bodies balot even staresh y decompose.
Worried sick about Lexie, Gary didn’t give those dead beats a second thought. He keptsreeping deeper into the cave, estre cautious with every step.

The deeper Gary went, the colder it got. If he weren’t a beastman from the Nine–Tailed Fox Clan, he would’ve frozen to death in here for sure.
Even so, the cold was getting to him, so Gary pulled a thick blanket out of his storage space and draped it over himself.
As Gary went deeper, the cave got brighter, but the temperature kept dropping. Every so often, he’d spot a blizzard beast tucked away in a crevice, in hibernation.
The blizzard beasts were covered in white fluff, their bodies round and chubby. Seeing them all snuggled up in the cracks, they looked just like little snowballs, honestly, weirdly cute.
These blizzard beasts were so adorable, females loved them the most. But since they were so unpredictable, nobody outside could ever catch one.
Or maybe it’s just that no beastman even tried to catch blizzard beasts anymore.
Turned out, beastmen used to catch blizzard beasts just to impress the females. But now that there aren’t any females around anymore, what’s the point of catching them?
Gary glanced at those round, fluffy blizzard beasts, then carefully made his way deeper into the cave, staying extra cautious.
Gary had no idea how long he’d been trudging through the cave, but deep inside, he suddenly stumbled into a cavern so massive it took his breath away.
The place was enormous, lit up brighter than he ever expected.
Standing at the entrance, Gary could feel his blood nearly freezing solid in his veins.
This place was just way too cold.
As Gary was scanning the area, his gaze was suddenly caught by a pair of silver eyes staring right back at him, out of nowhere.
It was an ice beastman. From its sheer size and the ancient–looking scales covering its body, Gary was sure this ice beastman had been around for at least a hundred thousand years.
Looking up at the towering beast form of the ice beastman, Gary felt a chill of awe run down his spine.
The ice beastman looked like it had just shaken off centuries of sleep. Its eyes were still clouded with confusion, but the frosty aura pouring off its body made the whole cavern feel like it was locked in ice.
When Gary locked eyes with this ice beastman, he sucked in a deep breath, trying to calm the shock pounding in his chest
He crept around the towering ice beastman, his eyes constantly drawn to its massive frame, every inch covered in glearning silver scales.
In the faint light, those scales flashed with an icy gleam, as if each one was packed with endless powe
Gary was here to find Lexie, not to mess with this ancient ice beastman
Besides, as he was now, Gary knew he didn’t stand a chance against a monster like that.
No point in making things messier than they already were. Once he fount Lexic, he’d bail out of here, no questions asked
