Meeting Austin’s sharp gaze, Lexie spent a long time trying to find the right words before she finally spoke in a low voice, “Um, well, Ms. Reyes is gorgeous. And Prince Nelson is very handsome.”
Austin asked, “That’s your takeaway?” At Lexie’s answer, his lips twitched.
“I mean, what else should I pay attention to?” Lexie asked.
Austin muttered, “Forget it. Nothing.”
Seeing the puzzled look on Lexie’s face, Austin no longer wanted to press further. But when Lexie tried to turn away, he spoke again, “Lex.”
Lexie turned back and asked in confusion, “What is it, Marshal Drake?”
Austin told her, “Things are going to get messy for a while. For your safety, don’t go out for a while. And don’t trust anyone too easily. Remember, they’re all bad guys. Also, take this.”
Looking at what Austin handed her, Lexie was just about to open the box when Austin reminded her, “Don’t open it. Lex, put it on your neck when you get back. Don’t tell anyone.”
“Okay,” Lexie responded.
Seeing how serious Austin looked, Lexie still nodded.
Austin said, “Go home then. Get some rest.”
“You too, Marshal Drake,” Lexie answered gently noticing how concerned Austin was. After watching him leave, she finally headed back to her place.
Returning to her bedroom, Lexie changed out of the elaborate gown before she opened the box Austin had given her.
She didn’t recognize the writing on the box, so she had no idea that the necklace inside, which looked ordinary, was actually a SSS–level protective shield.
Lexie held the necklace for a long while without figuring out anything, so she simply treated it as an ordinary necklace.
After she put it around her neck, the necklace disappeared from her skin only moments later.
Seeing this, Lexie touched her neck in shock. There was nothing there. The necklace had vanished as if it had never existed.
She wondered, ‘What was going on?‘
Still stunned, Lexie turned around and picked up the box that had held the necklace. She stared at it for a long time, yet she still couldn’t figure out anything.

Looking at the words on the box that she couldn’t understand, Lexie paused for a moment. She raised the Optic Brain and scanned the words on the box. Then the text was translated into speech.
Hearing it, Lexie finally realized that what Austin had given her wasn’t an ordinary necklace at all, but an SSS- level protective shield–a military–grade product, normally reserved for important national figures.
Lexie thought, ‘But why would Austin give something so precious to me? Could it be that I’m actually important to him?‘
With that thought, Lexie felt her heart race for no reason, and her checks flushed uncontrollably.
To be honest, she had never imagined being with Austin. The first reason was that Austin’s status was simply beyond her reach. Being around someone of such high power, Lexie couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of awe toward him.
The second reason was that Austin’s presence was overwhelmingly strong.
On top of that, Austin usually spoke little and acted coldly toward her, so Lexie had never dared to think that she might ever be with him in the future.
Now, Austin had given her this SSS–level protective shield, and Lexie couldn’t help but feel her heart flutter.
There was no denying it–Austin was unbelievably handsome. Even though he was cold and distant, it didn’t change the fact that he was a total heartthrob.
But these thoughts lasted only for a moment in Lexie’s mind. The next instant, an overwhelming pain made Lexie cry out in agony. The following second, the excruciating pain forced her to collapse to the ground.
Lexie thought, ‘What’s happening? Ever since I returned to Dophi Planet, I’ve been using the medical device Austin gave me to relieve my pain, and it’s always worked well. So why does my body hurt like this now?‘
Feeling the pain crashing through her like a violent storm, Lexie hurriedly pulled out the small medical device from her storage space to ease the pain.
After she burned through several small crystal cores, her pain finally eased somewhat. Lexie was now drenched in sweat, looking frail and pale. She gasped for air, as if she had just clawed her way back from the edge of death.
When the pain eventually eased up, Lexie could finally catch her breath and think about other things.
Ever since she had arrived on Dophi Planet, she hadn’t found the opportunity, so she hadn’t been able to use the treatment pod to heal her body.
The second reason was that the small medical device Austin had given Lexie worked extremely well. Every time she used it, it eased her pain perfectly.
With the pain gone, Lexie had put it behind her. She felt that she didn’t hurt as much anymore, so she wasn’t in a hurry to find another chance to use the treatment pod.
But after the pain she had just endured, Lexie realized clearly that she couldn’t put it off any longer.

If she delayed until her condition really was past saving, she might end up meeting her dad in the afterlife sooner than expected.
With that in mind, Lexie decided that tomorrow she would definitely find a chance to use the military treatment pod and finally cure her terminal illness once and for all.
With tomorrow’s plan set, Lexie finally fell into a deep sleep.
By the next day, Lexie still didn’t dare to bother Austin. He was a very busy man, and she felt awkward troubling him for her own matters.
Plus, Austin’s eyes were way too piercing, as if they could see straight through her mind. So, Lexie didn’t dare to bother him for matters like this.
After weighing her options, Lexie asked Ryker to come instead. He was one of Austin’s bodyguards, and for some matters, it was fine to go through him.
When Ryker hurried over, Lexie was standing in the doorway waiting for him. “Ryker,” she called.
“Lex,” Ryker replied, looking at Lexie standing at the door and waving at him, beaming with a radiant smile.
For some reason, Ryker felt that all the frustration he had built up early this morning vanished instantly.
Seeing Ryker in a bad mood, Lexie cautiously asked, “Ryker, you seem upset. Did something happen?”
Hearing Lexie’s question, Ryker sighed helplessly, “Lex, early this morning, Prince Nelson came with his companion, Ms. Reyes, to see Marshal Drake.”
“Huh? They came to visit Marshal Drake?” Lexie asked.
“Visit? They came to cause trouble for Marshal Drake.”
“Trouble? Why would they come and cause Marshal Drake trouble for no reason?”
Seeing Lexie’s confusion, Ryker could only helplessly explain. “Lex, you know about Ms. Graham, don’t you?”
