Arthur said, Yeah, that’s you. Lex, Ryker left you this memory chip before he took off.

The shell bed is a gift from Kaelen, the Merman King, to mark your mate contract with him. And the bracelet on your wrist is from Marshal Drake.

They had things to deal with, so they couldn’t stick around for you to wake up and just left. As for Kaelen, he used his charming technique to get you to sign a mate contract with him.

He probably slipped back into the ocean because he was worried you’d be pissed at him.”

It took Lexie a while to process what Arthur had just told her. She thought, Wait, all I did yesterday was go to the beach, pick up some shells, and scoop up a few pearls.

I didn’t even do anything wrong. How did I end up missing my chance to see Marshal Drake and Ryker, and now I’m suddenly in a mate contract with a merman?

No, not just any merman. The Merman King!’

Thinking back to that merman with the black tail she saw on the beach yesterday, Lexie couldn’t deny he was insanely attractive.

Plus, he was the Merman King, so weirdly enough, Lexie didn’t really mind the whole mate contract thing. She was a total sucker for a pretty face.

Even if she didn’t really hate it, she still couldn’t shake off that uneasy feeling inside.

Suddenly, something clicked for Lexie, and she turned to Arthur, her brows furrowed in confusion.

Dr. Cole, isn’t my whole deal outside that I’m supposed to be a beastman with a merman background? So why would Kaelen want to get into a mate contract with me?

Wait, is he only into beastmen or something? Did he get confused and think I was actually one?

Lexie’s question had William burst out laughing, while Arthur was left speechless.

Seriously, what is Lex even saying?Arthur thought, totally at a loss.

After letting out a long, exasperated sigh, Arthur stepped forward, looking at Lexie with a helpless expression.

He said, Lex, Kaelen isn’t some guy who’s only into beastmen. He’s got this freaky racial ability.

Just by touching someone, he can instantly figure out their gender, race, and even what’s going on with their body.

When you bumped into Kaelen on the beach, he knew exactly who you were just from that.

And as William said, Kaelen used his charming technique to mess with you. You were so dazzled by how goodlooking he was that you just blurted out everything without even thinking.

Lexie blurted out, Wait, he’s used the charming technique on me? That explains it. I have zero memory of what went down on the beach yesterday.

Dr. Cole, what am I supposed to do now? I ended up in a mate contract with the Merman King and didn’t even know it. I don’t even know the guy, much less like him.

I don’t even want to be with him right now. What am I supposed to do?

Arthur replied, That’s easy. Lex, school’s starting in a couple of days anyway. Once classes kick off, you’ll just head to school with William.

Just keep your head down and stay away from the beach for now. If you don’t show up there, Kaelen won’t see you. Maybe he’ll just forget you exist after a while.

And if that doesn’t work, once Marshal Drake and Prince Nelson finish sorting out their drama, I’ll grab you and we’ll leave Bolrasai Planet for Emp Planet.

Once we’re back on Emp Planet, Kaelen will be a million miles away. By then, whatever mate contract he thinks you have? We’ll just act like it never existed.

That sounds good. But what am I supposed to do with all this stuff?Lexie asked, gesturing at the massive shell and the pile of shell jewelry right by her side.

He replied, No problem. Kaelen went ahead and made that mate contract with you without even asking for your opinion.

Just consider all this stuff his compensation. It’s just a bunch of random little knickknacks anyway, so keep them.

Honestly, nobody but you would ever be into this stuff. No beastman would touch it.

Oh, and here’s a memory chip I got for you. If you get tired of these things, just stash them all in here.”

Lexie took the memory chip Arthur handed her, then stared at the pile of jewelry in front of her, completely lost for words.

While she was still in a daze, William started to step up like he had something to say, but Arthur just shot him

a look.

Arthur’s cold stare made William swallow his words and just clam up.

Arthur added, Lex, you just woke up, so take it easy and get some more rest. Austin and Ryker left you some gifts. Check them out when you feel like it.

When school starts in a few days, I’ll take you there myself. Sounds good?

Yeah, sure.Hearing that, Lexie nodded without any fuss.

Once Arthur and William left, Lexie started by stashing all the jewelry from the shell into the memory chip. Then she opened the one Ryker had given her.

Inside, it was like a treasure trovesnacks, toys, clothes, and anything. Ryker had thought of everything.

But that wasn’t all. There was also a huge box tucked away. When Lexie opened it, she found it packed with gorgeous jewelry.

Every piece was dazzling, shimmering with a mesmerizing glow.

There were necklaces and bracelets adorned with all kinds of precious stones, earrings and rings intricately carved with delicate patterns, each one radiating an air of elegance and sophistication.

Lexie gazed at the box full of jewelry, a warm feeling spreading through her chest. She knew Ryker had put a lot of thought into every single piece.

She gently ran her fingers over the jewelry, feeling the warmth they carried, as if she could sense Ryker’s care and affection through them.

Swallowing the wave of emotion in her chest, Lexie opened the bracelet Austin had given her. It was a spatial storage device, and she was dying to know what kind of gift he’d left inside.

As soon as Lexie activated the storage, she was completely thrown for a loop. Instead of jewelry, there was a dainty, pink mecha sitting right there.

She blinked at the mecha, totally floored. She never would’ve imagined Austin would pick out something this unique for her.

The mecha was exquisitely crafted and compact, with its pink paint job making it look almost irresistibly adorable.

Lexie leaned in, examining every inch of the mecha. The flawless details, the smooth, flowing lines, and the overall futuristic build all screamed hightech, like something straight out of a scifi dream.

She reached out, letting her fingers glide over the cold metal shell, feeling that chill of real alloy beneath her touch.

Lexie thought, I’ve never piloted a mecha before. But just imagining myself tearing across the battlefield in this thing feels absolutely epic.
