The Last True Female (Lexie) (by Sylvia Vance) novel Chapter 59

Chapter 59

1

Lexie felt a wave of gratitude wash over her. She knew this mecha wasn’t just a present from Austin. It was his way of showing faith in her and giving her a boost of encouragement.

He must’ve heard she was heading off to the military academy soon, which was probably why he went out of his way to give her such a meaningful gift.

Austin was never one for words, but his actions always hit you right in the feels.

As Lexie gently traced her fingers over the mecha, she couldn’t help but feel her longing for Austin grew even stronger, for reasons she couldn’t quite explain.

She couldn’t help but wonder when things would finally be resolved on his end. And she also wondered if Amya was still alive.

When she and Arthur first arrived on Bolrasai Planet, Amya only had a month left to live.

Now that month had come and gone, but there was still no word about Amya’s death on Interstellar Net. And there hadn’t been any war between the Aetherion Empire and the Aetherion Federation either.

Even though war hadn’t broken out, the tension in the air was palpable, and Lexie couldn’t help but feel a little on edge.

When it came to those highstakes games between the superpowers, Lexie knew she was just a small fish in a big pond. She was totally aware of her own limits.

She couldn’t do a thing to help with all that big political stuff. If her real identity ever got out, she’d get swept. up in the political storm, and there’d be no way out for her.

After a long sigh, Lexie told herself she’d keep this mecha safe and sound. She’d hold onto it like a precious treasure, waiting for the day she was strong enough to pilot it and unleash its true potential.

Lexie gently tucked the mecha back into her storage space, then sealed it shut, making sure it was safe for

now.

She turned back to look at the huge shell, now empty. It was absolutely massive, and honestly, it was

gorgeous.

Suddenly, an idea popped into her head. Lexie walked over to the bed, grabbed the whole comforter, and spread it all out inside the shell.

She was totally going to curl up inside that shell at night and see if it was as cozy as it looked.

Once she was done, Lexie patted her hands in satisfaction and turned to head out. She had no idea that after she left, the onceempty shell bed was now piled high with shimmering jewels of every color.

In the wide, empty room, those jewels stood out even more, dazzling and bright.

At the hospital entrance, when William saw Lexie heading out, he instinctively followed after her.

He’d made a vow to protect Lexie for the rest of his life, so now, wherever she went, he was always right behind her.

Just as Lexie reached the hospital entrance, she spotted a long line of beastmen, all leaning on each other for support as they shuffled inside.

The beastmen looked battered and bloodied, like they’d just survived a brutal fight. Cuts and bruises covered their faces, arms, and bodies. Some wounds were still bleeding.

Despite how badly hurt they were, their eyes shone with stubborn resolve, refusing to give in, as they helped each other inside, moving one step at a time.

As Lexie watched the beastmen, her gaze automatically landed on their waists.

She couldn’t help but wonder what these beastmen actually did for a living. The weapons hanging from their belts looked all kinds of bizarre.

Seeing Lexie’s curious look, William stepped up beside her and softly explained, These folks are a team of gatherers who work yearround on wild planets.

It’s super dangerous out there, so they have to carry all kinds of special weapons to protect themselves.” As he spoke, William gestured at the weapon hanging from one of the beastmen’s belts.

Lexie followed his gesture and spotted an unusually shaped knife dangling at the beastman’s waist. Its blade gleamed with a chilling sheen, and the handle was etched with intricate designs.

That’s a serrated blade,William explained patiently. It’s forged from a special material, making it razor- sharp. It can slice through even the toughest plants and even some lowergrade beast hides.

Lexie nodded, then glanced at the other beastmen’s waists. The weapons they carried were all sorts of crazy- some looked like giant pincers, others were long hooks or weird contraptions she’d never seen before.

They actually made all these weapons themselves, using what they’ve learned surviving on those wild planets. Every single one shows just how clever and gutsy they are,William continued.

Hearing that, Lexie couldn’t help but feel a wave of admiration for these beastmen.

So, are those herbs meant for Dr. Cole?Lexie asked.

William answered, Yeah, that’s right. Dr. Cole was the one who organized this whole gathering team. You probably didn’t know that.

Arthur isn’t just a toptier doctor. He’s also the patriarch of the Cole family.

The Cole family’s medical industry covers the whole Aetherion Interstellar Zone, and tons of beastmen have benefited from Dr. Cole’s kindness.

Now that there aren’t any females around in the Aetherion Interstellar Zone, if us beastmen want to deal with our gene diseases, we pretty much have to rely on Dr. Cole.

That’s exactly why Dr. Cole has a ton of respect out there.”

Oh, really? So between Dr. Cole and Marshal Drake, who’s the bigger deal around here?Lexie asked.

You can’t really compare them. Marshal Drake is the top dog in the Empire’s militaryhe’s got the whole army at his command, and he’s the one keeping the Empire safe.

But Dr. Cole? He’s basically a lifesaver for us beastmen. His skills are nextlevel. He’s saved more beastmen than you can count, and everyone looks up to him.

They’re both super important in their own worlds, and everyone knows their names.

It’s just one’s all about fighting, the other’s all about saving lives. Totally different vibes, you know?

Oh, I see. Come on, let’s go!Lexie said with a grin.

She glanced away and started walking out. But as soon as she reached the hospital entrance, her attention was instantly snagged by a patch of purple fluff lying in the flower bed.

Curious, she stepped closer and realized it was a fox. Not just any fox, but one with nine tails.

Lexie carefully picked up the little fox. It was still breathing, but just barely.

Honestly, it looked like it was on its last legs.

Liam, is this little fox a beastman?Lexie asked, her brows furrowed in confusion as she stared down at the tiny creature in her hands.

WellWilliam paused.

He took the little fox from her and examined it closely for a good while, frowning in thought. After a long moment, he finally said, I’m not really sure

Judging by its size and the way it looks, plus it doesn’t smell like a beastman at all, I’d say it’s just a regular wild fox.

It was probably left behind by that gathering team we saw earlier.

They must’ve thought it wasn’t going to make it, so they just tossed it here. I don’t think this little fox is going to survive. Want me to get rid of it for you?
