Chapter 65: Xavier’s Plea
Xavier’s Plea.
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Silas asked. “Do you know what would happen if Alisa wakes up and finds out you are not in the house?”
Serena had just kissed Alisa’s cheek while she slept. It was still six in the morning, so it was the safest time to leave.
“What other choice do I have? I can’t possibly take her to Velmon City. We’re going to be too busy,” Serena said. She had business to attend to in Velmon. A realty company was interested in buying the warehouse Serena had purchased four years ago, an investment now worth thirty million dollars. She had to take care of it personally.
As for Silas, Grand Mercy Hospital had just ordered its first Vanguard AI Body Scanner. He meant to grace the hospital owners with his presence.
“Goodbye, Baby. I will see you in a few days, Serena said, smiling at her sleeping daughter.
But just as she stood up, a small hand gripped hers.
Serena’s heart raced. When she turned around, Alisa’s eyes were wide open.
Alisa frowned. She studied Serena carefully from head to toe. Then fear shone in her eyes, and she started pulling Serena’s hand.
Repeatedly, Alisa shook her head. Her eyes watered as she pointed to Serena and tugged at her hand.
Alisa was always like this. She could understand, but she rarely spoke.
She hugged Serena, crying.
One thing was clear: Alisa knew Serena was leaving, and she didn’t like it.
“What do we do now?” Serena asked her brother.
Alisa cried harder, her tears pooling on her chin. She pointed to herself and then to Serena. This time, she finally spoke. “Come-you.”
“But you have therapy with Teacher Jen later,” Serena reminded her daughter.
Alisa shook her head. She pointed to Serena gain, then to herself. “Ali, come- Mommy!”

“Maybe we should just let her come. We can take Leslie with us. Also, Milo and Clark will be with us,” Silas suggested, referring to the bodyguards.
Everyone in the family had a soft spot for Ali. It was because she was special.
“Um.” Serena’s heart broke at the sight of her daughter begging like that. Finally, she said, “Okay. I’ll take you.”
They had booked a private flight, so the plane was going to wait for them. They quickly prepared Ali’s clothes, her favorite doll, and her plushie.
By the time they were ready to leave, it was already seven. Leslie had packed breakfast for Ali as well.
Silas, Serena, and Ali were about to walk down the stairs when another young voice called out behind them.
“Where are you going without me?”
They all turned to find… Sebastian.
His hands were on his waist, his brows drawn together. “You were going to leave me?”
He pointed at Ali. “If she’s going-”
Then he jabbed a finger at his own chest. “I’m going.”
“And my dinosaur.”
“And my red shoes.”

There was no helping it. All four of them ended up getting into the car on the way to the airport.

This was the first time in four years that Serena would return to Velmon City. She had her reservations. She was especially worried she might run into Nathaniel.
If that ever happened, she was determined to simply ignore him and walk past him. Or, she could say hi and pretend that he could never affect her. Surely, he had already moved on with his life.
She just needed to make sure Nathaniel would never see Sebastian, because one look at her son would give everything away,

At the airport tarmac, there was an added surprise.
Xavier was already waiting for them.
As soon as they stepped out of the car, Sebastian ran toward him, calling, “Uncle Xavier!”
The young boy leaped into Xavier’s arms, and Xavier spun him around.
“You’re really getting heavier, Bastin,” Xavier commented before setting him down. He then turned to Serena with a smile. “Can I talk to you for a bit?”
“Are you coming?” Serena asked, surprised to see him.
“I wish I could, but with the boss gone, I have to take care of the company,” Xavier said regretfully as he turned to Silas.
Silas chuckled. “You just want to watch over my sister, but I have more right to watch over her.”
The two men laughed, but Serena knew it was true. If anything, Xavier was the most anxious about her trip to Velmon City.
“I’ll take Miss Ali,” the maid offered, and Alisa followed after her.
As usual, her daughter said nothing. She only glanced at Xavier before looking away.
Xavier and Serena stood on one side of the tarmac. It was there that Xavier spoke, his voice careful. “I heard the Montgomerys proposed marriage.”
Serena’s lashes fluttered. She looked away and replied softly, “Yes.”
When she glanced back at him, Xavier’s expression had tightened. “Has Stefan ever shown interest in you before?”
“In a way, he has,” Serena answered. She wasn’t lying. Stefan had never pursued her openly, but he had always been attentive whenever they crossed paths. Some moments felt like flirting, subtle enough to be dismissed, easy enough to ignore.
A pause followed. Xavier didn’t look at her this time.
