The Loser Ex-Wife Came Back Hot novel Chapter 19

"Get in."

The chauffeur stepped out and held the door open for Alaric.

Looking slightly rigid, Alaric slid into the backseat. Nova climbed in right after him.

Noticing his unease, she offered a reassuring smile. "Relax. My parents are great. They just really hate Caleb."

Alaric stayed quiet.

The chauffeur, however, kept glancing at him through the rearview mirror.

Their young lady had recently broken off her engagement with the Langdon family in a spectacular explosion of drama. Why on earth was she suddenly so chummy with the illegitimate son?

The ride to the Donald Estate was quick.

As soon as Nova and Alaric stepped through the grand foyer, the mouth-watering aroma of dinner drifted down the hall.

"Let's eat first," Nova said. "You can't work out on an empty stomach."

"That's not necessary, I—"

"Nova! Take your shoes off and come eat!"

Mrs. Donald's cheerful voice cut off Alaric's polite refusal.

When she bustled into the entryway, she finally noticed the tall boy standing next to her daughter.

"Alaric?"

She remembered him from a few formal visits to the estate years ago.

Mr. Donald wandered down the sweeping staircase, looking equally bewildered.

Didn't their daughter despise the Langdon family?

Why was she bringing Alaric home?

"Mom, Dad, Alaric is going to be my personal trainer. Set an extra plate for him every night from now on."

Nova dropped the bomb casually, leaving absolutely no room for Alaric to argue.

Nova immediately dropped her fork. "Maria! Dishes!"

The maid swooped in, gently taking the plates from his hands. "I've got this, Mr. Langdon. Please, let me."

Alaric opened his mouth, but the words died in his throat.

Nova grabbed his wrist and dragged him toward the backyard patio.

Her parents watched them go, utterly baffled. This was the first time their daughter had ever brought a boy home.

Was it really just for a workout??

The Donald family was one of the wealthiest in Lindenwood, though they usually kept a low profile. The estate, however, was basically a resort.

Staring at the massive, glowing infinity pool that rivaled the school's athletic center, even Alaric looked a bit stunned.

Not even the Langdon mansion had a setup like this.

A few minutes later, Nova emerged in her swimsuit. It was a conservative athletic swimsuit issued by the prep school, offering zero frills.
