Hearing those words, Nova's first thought was of Mrs. Gable.

It had been seven days. The side effects should have already kicked in.

The other students clearly had no idea what was going on, but driven by the thrill of drama, they all bolted toward the academic building.

The hallway on their floor was already packed with a massive crowd of students. From inside the faculty office, Mrs. Gable's shrill voice pierced the air. “Ms. Albright, you must give me an explanation today!”

Mrs. Gable usually took meticulous care of her figure and appearance, but right now, she was raging like a maniac.

Ms. Albright was completely at a loss. Having no idea what had transpired, she had no choice but to send a student to fetch Sylvie.

The moment Sylvie stepped into the office, Mrs. Gable's sharp glare snapped toward her. “Sylvie Sutton, get over here right now!”

Even at her most furious, Mrs. Gable had never spoken with such vicious intensity. She dragged Sylvie over to Ms. Albright and demanded, “What exactly did you put in those chocolates? Speak!”

Sylvie was terrified by the teacher's wrath.

Mrs. Gable was originally in her late twenties with a slender figure, but in just one short week, her body had noticeably ballooned out of shape.

Sylvie's face turned ghostly pale. “I... I don't know, I didn't...”

Seeing Sylvie looking so fragile and frightened, Ms. Albright immediately took her side. “Mrs. Gable, you gained the weight yourself. How can you blame my student? Are you implying she drugged you?”

“I've been on a strict diet these past few days! Besides drinking tea, the only thing I've eaten is that box of chocolates. How could I possibly gain fifteen pounds in a week? I already took the chocolates to a lab. The test results show they were laced with artificial hormones! Sylvie, you've really outdone yourself.”

Mrs. Gable's revelation sent a collective gasp through the students eavesdropping by the door.

Tears streamed uncontrollably down Sylvie's face. Just then, Caleb stepped forward and declared, “I put the drugs in the chocolates. It has nothing to do with Sylvie.”

Caleb's sudden intervention sparked a flurry of whispers among the onlookers.

Anyone with eyes could see he was taking the fall for her.

Sylvie's eyes were red from crying. Caleb walked up to her, gently pulling her behind him, and stated, “I drugged them. If you want to call parents, call mine.”

Admittedly, Caleb's move was undeniably slick.

At least in the eyes of the teenage girls around them, he looked incredibly cool.

But as Nova watched the spectacle, she only thought he was a complete idiot.
