The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 514

"Nora."

Anya walked over at some point holding a glass of warm water.

The young girl watched Nora's actions and spoke in a small voice.

"Mr. Hayes is burning up. Should we try to feed him some water?"

Nora paused her wiping and dropped the towel back into the basin.

"Just leave the water on the side."

Nora's voice sounded a bit hoarse, her gaze never leaving Gideon's face.

Time slipped away in the long silence.

It wasn't until the IV bag was empty that the doctor came in and removed the needle.

The fever reducers and antibiotics were slowly taking effect. Gideon's high temperature began to drop, and his rapid breathing gradually leveled out.

"Mrs. Hayes, his temperature is down to a hundred degrees. He is out of danger of going into shock for now."

The doctor stood up and reported the situation to Nora.

Nora looked at the doctor, expressionlessly shifting her numb wrist that was still trapped in his grip.

"Since he's out of danger, get him out of here."

The doctor looked troubled, glancing around the meager accommodations of the flower shop.

"Ma'am, Mr. Hayes's condition is only temporarily stable. It's highly likely his fever will spike again in the middle of the night. I suggest... we move him back to the estate."

The doctor paused, his eyes falling on Gideon's hand still tightly clutching Nora's.

"He can't be separated from you right now."

Following the doctor's gaze, Nora looked down at the hand she couldn't shake off.

She took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the irritation surging in her heart.
