10:00 AM.
Nora woke up groggily from the edge of the bed. Having maintained that curled-up posture for so long, her entire left arm was almost completely numb, and a faint red imprint circled her right wrist.
She raised a hand to press against her aching temples and looked around. The bed was completely empty, the sheets neatly tucked, and there was no one in the room.
A faint, familiar aroma drifted through the air.
When soft footsteps echoed from the staircase leading to the master bedroom, Gideon quickly ladled the piping hot soup into a white porcelain bowl and carried the tray toward the dining room.
Nora had already washed up and changed into a plain cotton-linen outfit, her expression as coldly distant as ever.
Seeing Nora walk downstairs, Gideon hurried forward, carefully placing the steaming bowl of soup on the dining table right in front of her. His eyes overflowed with unconcealed anticipation and eagerness to please.
"Nora, you're awake? The doctor said you shouldn't eat anything too greasy on an empty stomach. I made some soup. The temperature is just right."
Gideon bent slightly at the waist, staring at her with intense focus, his voice impossibly soft.
"I really spent time looking into your preferences lately. I specifically asked Ivy, who used to run the kitchen. She said this was your absolute favorite—The Yam and Duck Consommé. Try some while it's hot."
Nora sat in her chair, her eyes locking onto the bowl of stew in front of her.
Inside the white porcelain, the broth was crystal clear, the yams sliced with delicate precision, emitting that all-too-familiar warm scent.
However, staring at this painstakingly brewed soup, all that surged up from the bottom of Nora's heart was a thick, overwhelming sense of irony and desolation.
Her absolute favorite?
What a hilariously tragic statement.
Before marrying into the Hayes family, back in her youth before her edges had been entirely worn away, her palate heavily leaned toward salty and spicy. She had absolutely no love for these bland, subtly sweet herbal stews—in fact, she despised them.
But then, she married Gideon.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
