Chapter 30: The Daughter’s War

The attack came three days later.

Not on Crescent Moon, but on two reformed packs simultaneously. Riverside and Mountain Ridge, both small territories that had adopted equality policies after watching my success.

By the time we got word, Riverside had already fallen. Twenty–three dead, including their Alpha. The survivors scattered, seeking refuge wherever they would be accepted.

Mountain Ridge was still fighting.

“We can’t save them all,” Marcus said grimly as we gathered in the war room. “We don’t have enough warriors to defend multiple territories at once.”

“Then we need to end this differently.” I studied the map. “Harrison is playing a game of attrition. He knows we’ll exhaust ourselves trying to protect everyone.”

“So what do we do?” Diana’s voice came through the video call. She was at Clearwater, rebuilding and preparing for a possible attack. “Let him pick us off one by one?”

“No. We go after him directly.” I looked at Adrian. “Where is Harrison right now?”

“His estate in the Eastern Territories. Heavily fortified, surrounded by his coalition forces,” Adrian pulled up satellite imagery. “It’s a fortress. We’d need an army to breach it.”

“Or do we need someone he doesn’t expect.” I turned to Elena. “How many daughters do we have now? Including the students?”

“Nine. Why?”

“Because Daughters have gifts Alphas don’t understand or prepare for.” I felt an idea forming, dangerous but possible. “What if we didn’t attack with warriors? What if we attacked with magic?”

Katherine’s eyes widened. “You want to assault Harrison’s estate with untrained students?”

“Not assault. Infiltrate.” I pointed to the map. “Jade can manipulate emotions. Maya can see possible futures. Riley can shield us. Simone can track anyone we need to find. Hannah can heal injuries. And you, me, and Elena are experienced fighters.”

“That’s suicide,” Marcus said flatly.

“That’s unexpected. Which gives us an advantage.” I met their skeptical gazes. “Harrison’s entire strategy relies on conventional warfare. Pack against pack, warriors against warriors. He’s not prepared for a Daughter strike team.”

“Even if we could get in,” Katherine argued, “what then? Kill Harrison? That makes him a martyr. His

coalition continues without him.”

“We didn’t kill him. We exposed him.” Adrian pulled up the financial records. “We got into his estate, accessed his private communications, and broadcast everything. Show every Alpha in his coalition that Harrison is being funded by Torres, that they’re being manipulated by Council politics.”

“Divide the coalition from within,” Elena said slowly. “Make them turn on each other.”

“Exactly.” I looked around the room. “It’s risky. But so is waiting for Harrison to destroy every reformed pack one by one.”

“The students won’t go for it,” Katherine said. “They’re here to learn, not fight wars.”

“Then we ask them. Give them the choice.” I stood. “But if they say yes, we move fast. Tomorrow night, while Harrison thinks we’re scrambling to defend Mountain Ridge

I gathered the six students in the school that evening.

Jade, Maya, Riley, Hannah, Simone, and Lily stood before me, looking nervous and excited in equal

measure.

“I need to ask something of you,” I began. “Something dangerous that I have no right to ask. But I’m asking anyway.”

I explained the plan. Infiltrating Harrison’s estate, gathering evidence, exposing the conspiracy. The risks, the dangers, the possibility of death.

“You’re all here because you spent your lives hiding. Because being Selene’s Daughter meant living in fear.” I looked at each of them. “I’m offering you a chance to stop hiding. To use your gifts to end a war before more packs fall. But I won’t force you. This is your choice.”

Lily spoke first. “I’m in.”

“You’re sixteen,” I said gently. “You don’t even know what your gift is yet.”

“Then maybe this is how I found out.” Her jaw was set. “My mother spent her whole life afraid. i won’t spend mine the same way.”

“I’m in too,” Riley said. “My shields can protect the team. That’s what I’ve been training for.”

One by one, they all agreed. Jade with her emotional manipulation. Maya with her prophetic gifts. Hannah with her healing. Simone with her tracking.

Six students are ready to risk everything.
