Episode 34-3
And I smiled.
“You made a mistake, Dr. Pierce.”
“Did I?”

“You studied us. Learned our weaknesses. Silver, pack bonds, our need for space.” I let power build, and silver light started to glow around me. “But you never understood our real strength. What makes us different from you?”
“Oh? Do enlighten me.”
“We protect each other. Always.” I reached throu building, my people, and the tortured survivo

really hard to kill.”
I released the power I’d been building. Not as an attack, but as a beacon. Every wolf in the building felt it, a surge of Alpha strength flooding through pack bonds.
The fighting in the hallway intensified. Renewed strength let the wolves push back against the Hunters.
“Riley, shield the stairwell. Katherine, Elena, get everyone down now!”
Through the bond, I felt them moving. The stairwell door burst open. Wolves poured through.
Pierce triggered something on his desk. Gas began hissing from vents.
“Two minutes,” he said. “You’ll never make it.”
“I don’t need to make it. I need them to make it.” I looked at Adrian. “Get our people out.”
“Not without you.”
“Adrian”
“Third path, remember?” He was already moving, not toward the exit, but toward Pierce’s desk. “That gas
system has a control panel. If I can shut it down…”
The hunters opened fire. Riley’s shield snapped into place, catching bullets. But the shield flickered under the strain; she was maintaining barriers on multiple fronts now.
Adrian reached the desk, his hybrid speed letting him dodge between shots. He grabbed Pierce, using him
as a shield.
“Shut it down, or I’ll break your neck.”
“Do it. I’m one man. The Covenant is eternal.”
“Wrong answer.”
Adrian didn’t break his neck. Instead, he slammed Pierce’s hand onto the biometric scanner on his desk,

forcing him to authenticate. The gas system is deactivated.
“Now the building is open in lockdown.”
“Never.”

Katherine’s voice crackled through the earpiece. “Sera, we’re trapped. Security doors sealed the stairwell. We’re stuck between floors thirty–seven and thirty–eight.”
Pierce laughed. “You’ve lost. Even if you escape, my people are already mobilizing. The attack on Crescent Moon starts tonight, not in two weeks. While you’re here, they’re destroying everything you’ve built.”
My blood ran cold. “You’re lying.”
“Am I? Check your phone. You’ll find you have no

Maya’s prophecy. This was the split. Stay here and save Adrian, or leave now and possibly save my pack.
I looked at Adrian, saw the same realization in his eyes.
“Go,” he said quietly. “Save them. I’ll handle this.”
“I can’t leave you.”
“Yes, you can. Because that’s what Alphas do. They saved their pack.” He smiled, and it was heartbreaking. “I love you, Sera Nightshade. Now go be the Alpha who conquered death.”
The mate bond screamed in protest. Every instinct said stay, fight together, die together if necessary.
But he was right.
“Katherine, Elena, Riley. With me. We’re breaking out and heading to Crescent Moon.” I looked at Adrian
one last time. “Don’t you dare die.”
“Not planning on it. Now go.”
I ran.
