Cameron and Jack Winslow both took open seats in the nearby open living room. Noah quickly shot Elena and Sloane an apologetic look as he hurried through his breakfast, but it was clear to Elena that he wouldn't be telling his brothers to leave. By now, Elena had learned that Noah had more of a "grin and bear it until it passes" attitude when it came to his family—like they were some storm that just had to be endured until better weather came along.

Cameron and Jack took a long look at the pile of boxes stacked by the door—and at the opened ones Elena had gone through last night. She had taken the medical go-bag and charm bracelet out but had carefully piled the other gifts back into their boxes. Elena doubted the two men could get a good look at any of the presents without getting closer.

Cameron suddenly laughed and looked over at Noah. "Little bro, surely you don't need to spoil your wife so much," he stated.

"Right?" Jack added. "I don't know what you're celebrating, but this is a lot for even her birthday or your anniversary."

"You should consider what your wife would appreciate, too," Cameron continued. "Surely she doesn't want all this expensive stuff. If it's cheaper and what she wants, you shouldn't feel bad about getting her something small over all this."

Elena frowned. Though Cameron's words sounded like decent advice on their own, it was clear he thought Sloane only deserved cheap presents. And Jack didn't need to be so dismissive of important dates to the couple.

Noah, too, looked displeased. "You two know when our anniversary is—you were invited to the wedding after all," he said with a frown. "And you should also know that Sloane's birthday is in the fall, not spring."

Jack chuckled nervously. "All the more reason to not waste your money," he remarked. "Besides, piles of presents this large are a little tacky, no matter the reason."

"I disagree," Noah said simply, "but you should as Elena. After all, I didn't order them."

Cameron and Jack suddenly looked at Elena, shock and confusion clear on their faces.

"My ex husband sent them to me," Elena stated simply.

Immediately, the two men's expressions changed. Jack's face in particular looked very smug while Cameron's went straight to condescending.
