The Royal Bistro earned its massive hype for a reason. Every dish was a culinary masterpiece. But due to her pregnancy, Audrey had virtually zero appetite. After forcing herself to take a polite bite of everything, she set down her silverware and began scrolling through the news on her phone.
Noticing her lack of enthusiasm, Miles leaned in. "Is the food not to your liking?"
"No, it's wonderful." Audrey smiled softly, glancing at Bianca and Nora, who were happily devouring the feast. "I just don't have much of an appetite."
"Neither do I." Miles set his silverware down, giving her an easy smile. "So, what's your next move?"
Audrey shrugged. "First order of business: finalizing the divorce."
Every time she brought it up in the past, Joaquin had violently rejected the idea. But the board had changed. The marriage license was public. While the internet was currently burning her at the stake, the truth would eventually come out, and Rainey would be branded the homewrecker. Furthermore, she had just pressed criminal charges against Fiona for breaking and entering. Whether it was to protect his precious childhood sweetheart or his mother, Joaquin's hand would be forced. He had to agree.
Miles clearly understood the politics of the situation. He raised an eyebrow. "Looks like you'll get exactly what you want very soon."
Just then, the door to the VIP room opened. A waiter walked in carrying a tray of iced juices.
Miles gracefully took one of the glasses and placed it in front of Audrey. "You seem to really enjoy lemonade lately. I ordered this specifically for you."
Audrey smiled warmly. "Thank you. That's incredibly thoughtful." She hadn't liked lemonade before, but pregnancy had completely rewritten her cravings, making her desire intensely sour things. It was a tiny detail that even Nora, who was with her every single day, hadn't noticed. But Miles did.
Miles chuckled softly and was about to reply when a chilling, familiar voice echoed from the doorway.
"He's so thoughtful. Are you going to throw yourself at him in gratitude?"
The sheer venom in that voice made Audrey's brow twitch. She looked up. Joaquin was standing at the entrance, looking immaculate and terrifying in a bespoke black suit. His lethal gaze was locked onto the glass of lemonade in her hand. "You always hated lemons. Now that he's the one giving it to you, it's suddenly your favorite?"
