The Moment I Realized I Can't Lose You novel Chapter 125

At St. Jude's Medical Center, Joaquin had just settled Rainey into her private room after her emergency evaluation when Felix Foster called.

"Joaquin, we have a massive problem. Someone leaked your marriage license with Audrey!"

Joaquin's grip on his phone tightened. He immediately opened the news app. The leak had happened over forty minutes ago. But instead of the backlash he expected against him and Rainey, the internet was relentlessly attacking Audrey and Miles. They were being branded as disgusting home-wreckers and shameless cheaters. The vile slurs filling the comment sections were sickening to read.

Seeing the sheer hatred directed at Audrey, a suffocating knot formed in his chest, followed by an explosive surge of anger. He immediately dialed his secretary. "Is the PR department dead?!"

Chase Snow's trembling voice came through the line. "Sir... PR tried to suppress the story the second it broke. But they were intercepted..."

Joaquin's brows locked in a lethal frown. "Meaning what?"

"Meaning..." Chase lowered his voice to a whisper. "The person who leaked the documents and paid for the troll farms to fuel the smear campaign... is from the Judd family."

Joaquin's breathing hitched. He should have known. The only people who had access to those papers besides him and Audrey were members of his own family.

After a heavy silence, his voice dropped to a terrifying chill. "I don't care who gave the order. Tell PR that if this news and the smear campaign aren't entirely scrubbed from the internet in five minutes, they can all pack up their desks and get the hell out."

"Y-Yes, sir! Right away!" Chase practically shouted, desperate to appease his boss's wrath.

Joaquin ended the call. Just as he was about to put his phone away, an anonymous message popped up. It was a photo of Audrey, looking helpless and overwhelmed, completely trapped in the center of a rabid mob of reporters. An address followed, demanding he get there immediately.

Seeing the absolute despair on her face, Joaquin's heart plummeted. Without a second thought, he turned on his heel and strode toward the elevators.

"Joaquin!" Rainey's frail voice called out from behind him. She was leaning against the doorframe, looking so weak she might collapse at any second. "Where are you going?"
