The Omni-Wolf’s Choice novel Chapter 100

Chapter 100 Cookies in the oven…

Connor’s POV

Learning that my mate, Evelyn, is carrying my pup has been the best, most unreal kind of

happiness.

I had been in my office when Ryder’s mind-link snapped through, sharp and immediate—

get to his suite, now. He said it involved both of our mates. My first thought was that our

two trouble magnets had found a new way to cause chaos together.

I was wrong. This wasn’t the kind of mess they made.

‘Beta, get to my suite. Now.’

‘Copy, Alpha.’ I was already moving, the urgency in his tone pushing me faster.

‘Everything okay?’

When I rounded the corner, warriors were stationed outside his door. Ms. Rebecca and

her assistant stepped out at the same time I arrived, both of them wearing those polite,

knowing smiles as they passed. I returned a nod and headed straight in.

Voices carried from inside.

“We’re not pregnant,” Evelyn said.

My wolf detonated in my skull.

‘Drake?’ I asked.

‘She is…’ my wolf answered, certain.

I found my mate and didn’t give her room to keep arguing with reality. “Come on,

Evelyn,” I said aloud while I mind-linked Dr. Kira in the same breath.

Ryder’s link hit me a second later as his attention stayed locked on his own mate. ‘Set it

up with Dr. Kira. Tell her to clear her schedule as soon as possible and see both of our

mates.’

‘Done. We’ll meet you there.’

Evelyn still looked ready to fight me on it-stubborn as ever-and it made my chest

tighten with that ridiculous, fierce love I had for her. I scooped her up without

negotiation, bridal style, and started for the pack hospital.

She threatened me the whole way.

Then she tucked into my chest anyway.

When the results came back, my brain stalled. I hadn’t expected it to happen this fast, but I should have. My parents had made me on their first night after marking-something my father never lets me forget, because he enjoys reminding everyone about the

“strength” of Reynolds men.

So now we were here, after that breakfast from hell. Luna Kendra had forced the answers out of everyone like she was trained for interrogation. Honestly, we should put her in the security wing with a notepad and a chair.

I helped Evelyn get cleaned up, and she wanted to tell my parents immediately.

We walked down the Beta wing hallway of the pack house with our fingers laced together. The bond tingled between us, steady and warm. Goddess, I was grateful the curse had been handled. Those weeks without her had been torture-an ache that never

stopped.

“You ready, babe?” I asked, tightening my grip on her slim hand.

“I’ve been waiting for this my whole life,” she said, and her smile could have lit the whole corridor. Perfect teeth, perfect glow-like she belonged in a commercial.

I kissed the crown of her head, then knocked on my parents’ suite door.

“Well, well,” Grandma Celia said the moment it opened, eyes bright with pure

satisfaction. “Look what the wind dragged in. I hear I’m about to become a great

grandma!”

“Who told you?” Evelyn asked, startled.

“I don’t need anyone to tell me.” Grandma waved it off like it was obvious. “My gifts run

deep, sweetheart. Now come in-bring me my precious cargo.”

She wrapped Evelyn up in a hug so big it looked like she planned to keep her.

“Grandma,” I teased, “let her breathe.”

“Please.” Celia sniffed. “That girl is made of strength and magic. She can survive one hug

from me.”

Then my mom appeared from the back rooms like she’d been launched.

“Is that my daughter? Oh, my goddess-let me see her!”

Their suite was basically its own house: living room, dining area, kitchen up front, two

bedrooms tucked behind. I was already picturing one of those rooms becoming a nursery

by tomorrow.

The air smelled like warm sugar and butter.

Mom, of course, had something in the oven. Baking had always been her love language.

She didn’t even slow down for me-just barreled right past and joined the group hug

Evelyn still hadn’t escaped.

“Well, Mom,” I said dryly, “I’m here too. You know, the son who’s helping make you a

grandma?”

“Oh, Connor.” She finally acknowledged me with a quick glance, like I was a lamp. “As if I could forget you. But this baby-this baby is going to be beautiful. I cannot wait to

babysit!”

My dad came in then, likely pulled up from his downstairs office by the commotion.

“Son,” he said, clapping my shoulder, amused. “I hear congratulations are in order. Good job getting my daughter back to us-and our grandbaby. Perfect timing.”

“Thanks, Dad,” I said, playing along. “I did my part for the family.”

Evelyn’s mouth curved into a smug little grin. “Now I’m the one assigned to grow an

entire pup. So… thanks for your contribution, Connor.”

She sniffed the air and her eyes widened. “What is that smell? It’s incredible.”

“I’m making desserts,” Mom said immediately, turning toward the kitchen with purpose.

“Want to taste-test?” She wiggled her brows at Evelyn.

“Mom,” I warned, “we just escaped breakfast. I don’t know if she-

“I can eat,” Evelyn cut in, already leaning over the island. “What do we have?”

One rule I’d learned fast: don’t argue with a pregnant woman’s appetite.

I slipped my arms around her from behind while Mom started building a plate-pastries, cookies, small bites of everything.

Right then, Ryder mind-linked. ‘Men. Meeting in my office. Now.’

‘Yes, Alpha,’ we replied together.

I kissed Evelyn’s cheek. “I have to go meet Ryder. Want me to walk you back to our

suite?”

“No,” Mom answered before Evelyn could. “She stays here. We’ll feed her and keep her

company. Got to feed that baby!”

Grandma Celia nodded like this was sacred duty. “We’ve got plenty for her to sample.

And then she’ll nap here. Go.”

Evelyn turned in my arms and rose onto her toes to kiss me. “I’m fine, babe. Go. Mind-

link me when you’re done.”

I kissed her back-soft lips, familiar heat-and pulled away only when I had to.

Dad walked me to the door. “I’ll make sure she’s safe. Her warrior detail should rotate in

soon. She won’t be alone.”

“Thanks, Dad,” I said. “If she needs anything, tell me.”

I headed for the stairs and ran into Montgomery as I reached Ryder’s level.

“Going to the meeting?” I asked.

“Yeah,” he said, “but just to touch base. After that I’m leaving for another mission.”

“Then you can have the floor first,” I told him, smirking as we approached Ryder’s office.

Inside, Lucas and Pierce were already settling into their spots.

Ryder didn’t waste time. “Glad you’re all here. We’re hosting a small celebration for my

mate’s safe return. Everyone who fought with us is invited. Security has been increased,

and pack magic has been reinforced. Bridget and the witches have helped strengthen the borders. The elders will attend too-we’ll be discussing developments tied to the

castle.”

“Understood, Alpha,” Lucas said. “Everything’s set and ready for the party.”

Pierce added, “Warriors are trained up and prepared for anything that comes.”

“The pack staff have been vetted,” I said, leaning back into the heavy chair. “All solid.”

Ryder nodded once. “Good. Montgomery-any updates?”

“Yes,” Montgomery said. “We’ve finished clearing the castle. Top to bottom. And we

found this.”

He handed a packet across the desk.

Ryder’s brows pulled together as he studied it. “What is this? A floorplan?”

“That’s what it looks like,” Montgomery confirmed. “A containment facility. The question

is what the king kept there-treasures, stolen goods, maybe even living beings. The

coordinates place it on the far outer banks of the castle land, close to the swamp line

and the forbidden forest border.”

“Keep me updated,” Ryder said, voice hardening. “If you need more men than you requested, ask. I want answers-what was held there, who was held there, and why.”

A secret building tied to an evil king. Insane.

Even dead, the bastard was still leaving us surprises.

“Copy that, Alpha Ryder,” Montgomery said. “I’ll contact you the moment we make

progress.”

Ryder stood. “That’s it for now. Get out of here and enjoy the day. We’ll meet later to

finalize the training classes and decide who’s running them with Beatrix.”

Chairs scraped as we rose to leave. All I could think about was Evelyn-whether she

was drowning in sweets and grandmotherly attention or planning her escape.

“Connor,” Ryder said, “hang back.”

I paused while the others filed out.

“We haven’t talked since we found out about our mates,” he said quietly. “And I never

got around to properly congratulating you for becoming my sister’s mate. Everything’s

been chaos. But I mean it-I couldn’t have picked a better mate for her than my best friend. Looks like we’re stepping into this next part of life together.”

I exhaled, the weight of it settling in. “Yeah. Never thought we’d be here like this-with

pups on the way.”

“Exactly,” he said. “So we should toast.”

Ryder crossed to the bar, poured bourbon into two glasses, and handed one to me. We

lifted them.

“To what’s coming,” he said. “May we raise healthy, happy pups.”

“To healthy pups,” I echoed.

We drank. The burn hit strong and clean, right down the throat.

A knock sounded at the door.

Bridget stepped in, and the worry on her face turned the room cold.

“Bridget,” Ryder asked, already moving toward her, “what is it?”

“It’s Iron Fang.”
