Chapter 378
“You were there?” he asks.
I turn and look at him. “I told you. I like to see things for myself.”
“And what do you see right now?” he asks me.
“I see an Alpha who is ripe for the taking, once she gets rid of that brat, of course.”
“Calvin will definitely fight against that. He may not be happy that his mate has become an Alpha of her own pack, but he definitely won’t let you kill his daughter.”
–“A girl? What’s the point?” I ask.
“To give us heirs, of course. How is your mate?” he asks and just as he says it, I feel pain slice through my body – burning, debilitating, excruciating pain.
I gasp, trying to figure out what the fuck that was.
“Koden, are you okay?”
I leap from the tree and begin racing home as fast as I can. That kind of excruciating pain would have only been caused for two reasons. Either someone is fucking my mate, or….
I don’t care who might see me as I race back to Aiden’s pack. I fly past

our patrols, not stopping until I get to the packhouse where I shift quickly. The moment I step inside, I smell the blood.
“Koden!” Camden says, rushing to grab me.
“WHERE IS SHE? WHERE IS MY MATE?” I yell.
“She’s dead, Koden. She killed herself,” Aiden says calmly, walking down the stairs, as he casually wipes blood from his hands.
When he gets to me, he stops and puts his hand on my shoulder. “Get some restraints before you chose your next mate.” he says, handing me a note that has bloodspots on it.
I look at the note.
‘I will never give you a pup. You disgust me. Just know that I took your son with me.’
I see red, ripping out of Camden’s grasp. When I finally get out of my angry haze, I realize that I’ve destroyed the downstairs of the
packhouse. Aiden is standing across from me, leaning against the wall, watching and understanding that I needed to burn off my fury.
“Find someone else,” he says.
I stand there, my chest heaving from exertion.
“I already know who I want. Sophie’s sister Amelia is now Alpha of her pack. I want her.”

-I spend the next couple of weeks drawing up my ideas for using the
new pack members to build out the community area on the mountain. Since Jake’s pack would participate in paying for the build out, he won’t make as much as other packs that aren’t in our immediate area, but once we have my brother’s old pack and add that Alpha to the mix, hopefully, it will help spread out the costs even more.
I work and rework the numbers, checking them against what we spend here in our pack so that I can ensure that each new pack who sends helpers knows how many people they must send if this is the only way that they can sustain their pack. I want to make sure that the numbers are accurate depending on how the pack’s structure is built. So, if they have more warriors, they’ll need more food to sustain their pack members. If they have more young couples and pups, they won’t need as much food but also may not have as many workers to send.
Once I’m done with that, I start making a list of what we want to build ́and the expected materials that it takes to build each area. The
playground for the pups is pretty easy, but if we decide to put in a water area, we’ll need to have water plumbed to the mountain. I make
a note to talk to Robin and the other Lunas about how we can make that work. Do we just divide the cost between all of the participating packs? Should we consider adding electric and use the same process of splitting the monthly costs?
