Chapter 382
“I can barely stay awake in the afternoons and here you are, toting your newborn around, nursing her while you greet your guests,” I say, reaching around Athena and my own growing pup to hug Amelia.
“If I wasn’t, I wouldn’t have been here to greet you,” she says.
“I think all of us would have understood that,” I say, as if she’s missing the point.
“Not everyone,” she says quietly. I hug her a bit longer, realizing that Amelia is having her own struggles and having to make a name for herself as an Alpha, while living away from her mate and being a brand–new mother. I can’t imagine who difficult it is for her.
“If you need anything at all, let me know,” I whisper before stepping back and looking at Sophie and her giant belly.
‘And you look like you’re about to pop!” I can’t even hug Sophie properly, her belly is so large. So, I give her a side hug and look out at the others who are starting to arrive.

“I can help you find your rooms,” Jocelyn says from behind me.
“Jocelyn! I wasn’t expecting to see you. How are you? How are the surgeries going? Your legs look great!”
“Thanks. Dr. Caspian is fantastic, and my wolf is getting stronger every day. healing me faster and faster.”

“That’s great news!” I say to her. “And it’s not that I’m unhappy to see you, but what are you doing here?” I ask.
“Well, with everything that’s happened with Zahn, and now with
Amelia setting the precedent that women can be Alphas, I, uh, thought I’d come see what it might mean for me to compete for a pack once I’m fully healed.”
“Good for you!” I say to her, really meaning it. When I first met Jocelyn, she was so angry, so bitter about her life. But, as with everyone that Sophie touches, she’s blossoming into her own now.
“I’m sorry you were mated to such a douche–bag, but I’m glad that you‘ re literally and figuratively, standing on your own two feet again.”
“Me too,” she says, looking past me. “Hello, Alpha Robin.”
“Jocelyn. It’s good to see you again and looking so well,” my mate
says.
“Thank you.”
She shows us to our room, which is interesting. I’m guessing that she arrived with Sophie and Hunter yesterday, but this isn’t her pack. Maybe she just needed something to do, but it’s different enough that it stands out in my head.
“What time are we heading over to the other pack?” I ask. feeling Robin wrap his arm around my waist
“Once everyone has arrived and is settled, we’ll be heading over. There are refreshments out back and that’s where we’ll be leaving from, so it‘

s probably a good idea to make your way down there when you’re ready,” she says, before leaving us to get settled.
“Are you ready for today?” Robin asks when we’re alone.
“Yes,” I say, walking into his arms. It’s partly to let him know that I’m okay, but partly because breathing in his scent calms me and Adira. My mate wraps his strong arms around me, not rushing me while I take deep breaths and give myself a moment to relax in his warm embrace.
“Alright, let’s do this,” I say, stepping away from him. He takes my hand and leads me downstairs.
When we get downstairs. Kayce and Allison are already there. We go say hello to our friends and then I walk over to get something to eat. My little guy is always hungry.
“Alpha Nicole, I’m surprised to see you here,” a vaguely familiar voice
