“Is that why you were threatening that wolf earlier?” Ezra asks quietly. having heard our conversation.

“Yeah, although I really let Nikki threaten him. It sounded like he was friends with Camden, so he bears watching. And if he still feels that things should be run in the old ways, there are probably more. Nikki seems to think that there are.”

“We need to make sure that we let whoever wins this pack know that, so they can nip it in the bud the moment they take over, or, if they stay with Amelia, which I’d doubt, we need to warn her. I’ve already talked to her about Caleb,” Hunter says.

“Good! He’s a loose cannon,” Dutton says, walking up.

As we walk into the packhouse, I step away from my friends and over to my mate. I casually reach out to take her hand, but I can feel the tension in her. Nikki stops in the middle of the main room downstairs, looking around. I step up behind her, wrapping my arms around her.

As they pass, her friends reach out to squeeze her hand, smiling at her and letting her know that they are all here for her.
